| Handley should of been playing from the start. Ryan Hall has hardly played at all this season for the Roosters, and coming off an injury as well doesn't help. Handley I believe played every game last season, and came joint second highest try scorer. Then has experience against the PNG squad while playing for the Knights last year. Surely this should of been a no brainier instead of putting a half back on the wing. Feel sorry for the poor lad.

| Quote ="Sir Kevin Sinfield"Agreed, he’s only just good enough for Super League, he shouldn’t be near the national side, we are so short of quality outside backs Bennett feels he has no choice but play players out of position'"
We have some very good wingers who just have not been available.
Our centre situation has been an on going problem for as long as i can remember. I can only name half a dozen at a stretch who have been up to scratch at international level since the late 80's.
We should be able to sort out the full back position, hopefully Zak can have a good year in 2020 he would be my choice.
Until we find some quality centres though we are always going to struggle to match the top sides out wide.

I agree Biff that we've certainly not been blessed with centres at international level that could cause problems for the elite nations for quite some time
We could already have 2 future England/GB centres on our books in Newman and Broadbent if they continue their development as we all hope

| I would argue that in gildart and Connor we have two decent centres, not worldys I agree but a good foundation. Percival was missing and he is good. Newman has a chance to break through.
I think if everyone is fit we have the makings of a solid side. Bennett flucked it up with appalling team selection and tactics.
Hate to say it but someone like Wane with his no nonesense approach is the forwards but willingness to move it wide is what we need. Bennett is a man lost.

I like Andrew Stewart from the academy too and new signing Corey Hall might end up there.
Newman and Broadbent could be a cracking combination if they realise their potential.

| Its amazing how frail most SL backs are. Hardaker looked and played like a junior yet to develop physically when he played for the Panthers.I know you can't just magic up athletes but surely SL can do better?

Agreed, i think Newman is already on the right track and hopefully he will continue his progression this season he should get plenty of games.

| It took Zak a very long time to put size on.
There could be a genetic component to the athleticism of young lads in the NRL compared to here, particularly regarding the south sea island heritage players.
I also don't know how rigorous drug testing is (in either hemisphere) with young lads. You do wonder seeing the size of some of them whether they've had some artificial help along the way. It's super-competitive to make the cut and you could see why some might cheat to get there.
Thing is if we can't out-muscle NZ, Tonga, Aus then we need to outplay them and we can't do that either.

| Think we are clutching at straws talking about Broadbent/ Newman at international level. Let’s see if they make it as regular Super League players first!

I’ve always thought the Aussies look more “athletic” than we do. They seem to get players who look entirely at ease whilst running with the ball like a 100m sprinter would run at 3/4’s pace.
The only English player who has looked similar to me in recent times is Watkins. Maybe Senior before him.

| Can't do with the commentators frothing over how 'good' GB are today. Not been disrespectful but we should beat PNG really.
It's the same old thing of when the pressure is off and the test series lost a team comes out and plays with more freedom. We need to figure out how to play well under pressure.

| Can we just get Jonathan Davies to run out great sport. Speaks sense about what's happening on the pitch and off it. It can't be rocket science to promote a game as skillful and explosive as ours yet every year we struggle.

Bennett needs to go and Sinfield should resign

| It's a close call for stinking the joint out between GB on the pitch and the jibberish spouted by Brian Noble, boy oh boy, wowwee,
Changed my mind, GB truly woeful.

| PNG have rushed up around the ruck all night, any half decent team should be able to get on the out side of that, not keep bashing it up early in the set.

Tom Burgess has done well.

| The whole tour has been a farce. Seems to me the inclusion of the heritage players hasn’t worked. It’s time for change, Shaun Wane should be the GB and England coach.

| On the other hand, absolute hats off to PNG. Just shows what enthusiasm, identity and coupling solid basics with off the cuff rugby in the right areas can do.
Fluck of Bennett and don't come back.

| A line needs drawing and start again from scratch. Tour has been farcical.
A few players need moving on now and certainly a new coach.
I like Hodgson in a Canberra shirt but for England/GB he just stifles everything.

Lions Whitewashed As PNG Compound Tour Misery
The Great Britain Lions were looking to restore a modicum of pride at the end of a disastrous tour as they travellled to the rugby league cauldron of Port Moresby to take on a determined Papua New Guinea side who were intent on sending the Lions home on the back of a four game whitewash.
Papua New Guinea are currently ranked as the tenth best in the world, behind Scotland and Lebanon, this match was scheduled to be a gentle wind down and bridge building exercise at the end of the tour. The Kumuls would have different ideas, wanting to compound the Lions misery in front of a sell out, fervent, home crowd.
Despite a late afternoon kick-off the temperatures were still high and the Lions would have to cope with high humidity and the noisiest of partisan stadiums.

| It’s been a joke, what a farce, Wayne Bennett should hang his head in shame. There was no balance in the squad, players now playing out of position. It’s clear Bennet does not rate super league, if your an Aussie playing in SL with a UK heritage your in the team, plus too many English players who are in OZ simply walk into the team, Bennet has become a dinosaur, blown away, we had no answer to PNG in the second half. Bennet surely has to walk away from this after this tour.
