| Quote ="Gotcha"Milner is a brilliant hooker and very undervalued. Houghton is a terrifically consistent player, and not sure where you get it from he can only pass one way. Thages is a half back not an hooker, and damn good under rated half back at that.
Any recruitment of an hooker I would guess would be to do with what Aitons plans are. I don't think what happens with Burrow comes into it, as clubs are actively moving away from the two hooker plans, or at least it seems to be common opinion.'"
It's just an observation, I heard a few Hull fans suggest he can only pass one way so I watched him more closely and he rarely passes the ball to his left. He consistent for sure, but he's rarely above 'steady' . Perhaps he would improve behind a better pack but I'm not sure he is ever going to get better than he already is. He's certainly not a player I'd break the bank to bring in. Also unless Aiton is leaving then I can't see the point in having him in the squad if he isn't going to be first choice.

| Houghton's the sort of player who would go really well in the NRL. Not so much of a threat with ball in hand, but an absolute workhorse defensively.
If you want a hooker who can defend in that middle unit and rack up 40 plus tackles and very few errors a game, he's a good choice. Not sure that's what Leeds need to be honest.

| Houghton goes under radar moving forward with his runs. he seems to go for quality darts over quantity.
As for Milner, he either looks eye openly good or horrifically bad.

| Houghton's distribution is poor, as is his decision making. Defensively very good, and times his scoots from Dummy Half very well. Says a lot when Hull fans would rather have him coming off the bench for his runs from dummy half and would like to sign a 'game managing' hooker to start games

| I would sooner have Robbie Ward as backup hooker to Aiton than Houghton every day of the week.
Even more so if we are looking to pay a fee.

| Houghton - as others have said, very good in defence, attack isn't the best. Feel (like others) a bit 'meh' if this happens....but then again, most of us thought the same when we were rumoured with and signed Aiton and he's going great for us this year.

| Houghton would be great for you and would improve playing in your side and your coaching.
Can't see why we would sell him mid season.
Unless it's a silly offer (and possible player), then I really hope this doesn't happen.
If he plays in the cup on Sunday, then I doubt this will happen, so we might have more of an idea then.

| I'm not sure Houghton is much of an improvement over the current Aiton and I'm not sure how he'd improve our coaching.
He's a good hooker, as mentioned above I think he'd go really well in the NRL but I don't think he's what we need unless Aiton is leaving.
If Aiton's staying then I reckon someone like Milner or Pelissier would be good.

| This is guff. Don't feed the rumour.
Burrow isn't leaving. Aiton will only leave if something with the Cronulla case has kicked off. Even then ward should be given his chance.
Back to the rumour about us signing Sam Burgess thanks, much more likely to happen.

This
The only reason Leeds would possibly put an offer in for Houghton is if the ozzy drug blokes have genuinely got a case with Aiton.

I agree, but why then would we put an offer in for a hooker that isn't as good as we've got now, Esp when we have good cover in that position.

| but we don't. burrow is OOC and as peter smith said on twitter, "he hasn't signed for cas. yet". two people in RL media have told me he will be going. look at his game time. he doesn't feature much when everyones fit. ward is untried and nowhere near ready..
why do people assume aiton is going??? you do need two quality hookers

Someone on here swore blind a short while ago that rob burrow was going on loan to cas, when I laughed at him he responded saying we'll see you muppet...... I believe this just as much as that. People 'Are told things by reliable sources' all the time. I worked with a championship player that is at the same agency as Ben jones-bishop, he told me he was defo going to Warrington, did that ever happen?

| You don't need two hookers in your 17, if you've got the right one starting.
Certainly don't need two highly paid ones playing 40 minutes each, and absolutely don't need to be throwing a transfer fee at a pretty ordinary one.

| 2 hookers in the 17 aren't needed anymore. The hooker is the player with his hands on the ball the most and taking him off the field totally disrupts the structure of the team, you wouldn't take your half back off the field twice in a game and I think the same should apply to the hooker, especially when he's playing as well as Aiton.

I disagree, whilst a hooker can play 80 minutes, is it the wisest idea to do so? Roby usually does and looked knackered at times tonight. If we had played Aiton for 80 mins every week so far....would he have put in that performance tonight or would he started to look a bit tired?
You're correct that you wouldn't normally take your halfback off, but usually your halfback makes mid-teens in terms of tackles, your hooker would do 40 pushing 50 if he stayed on the full 80.

| If anybody had the slightest doubt/concern over sutty being sinnys replacement next year, he's shot that right out the water tonight, quick thinking and with it the correct decisions. I'd go as far as saying that's probably his best performance in a rhinos shirt, especially considering the opposition.
