Worse than Cas at home the previous year? Debatable. 2010 was in many ways just as shocking as 2011. And, I would add, most of 2009 was pretty shoddy too performance-wise (esp vs "lesser" teams), league leaders' shield notwithstanding.

2009 v Salford at home springs immediately and diabolically to mind.

As stated number of actual games lost was the same both seasons. That addressed the context of the initial statement regarding the Wigan forecast for 2012.

However it's fair to point out when expressing the loss rate as a percentage of games played then 2011 fares slightly better than 2010

2010 - 12 of 35 = 34.29%
2011 - 12 of 36 = 33.33%

It felt much higher but when I sit back and think about it, 1 in 3 games lost sounds about right.

Our finishing position in 2010 was due in great part to some individual performances from McGuire in particular that got us points we didn't always deserve and without which we would have finished maybe 5th or 6th. Add to this the serious long term injuries to JP & McGuire plus a new set of other injuries at the start of the 2011 season which dealt the new coaching set up a real handicap and why I argued for them to be given a fair chance.

Bluey may have had a good record for trophies with Leeds but IMO he presided over a decline in playing standards with what was and still is a talented squad albeit with some getting long in the tooth. The youngsters that Brian McD has brought on has given the side a much needed freshness and I believe our prospects look better now than they did at this time last year. Barring further injuries that is!

Correct you knocked us out of the play-off's twice before eventually going onto win the title on both occasion's. Not dislike what we did in 2010 when the reverse happened. Or 2011 when we beat you in the CC final continuing our 100% record for final victory's over Leeds.

Those were some of the darkest day's in Wigan's recent history, so to combat that I've blocked out and forgotten about most of those season's, hence my mistake.
