Is another halfback a priority? Next year we will have sutty, mags and burrow (off to cas my 'arris) and lilley coming through who good things are expected off. Chuck in that zak and wardy can/have played there and we have good competition for at least another couple of years. Sure, widdop would be big news but I'd hate us to blow our was on him and not fully sort out our front row which will be light without jp and Kylie.

I said earlier that unless we can get an origin level HB then we should stick with Sutcliffe at 6 and concentrate on getting at least 1 quality experienced prop.

Gaskell's defence has come on in leaps and bounds, he's much more solid in physique now too and has coped very well with umpteen cheap shots a week in the championship. He's a SL player now no doubt.

In that case I agree. I can't seriously see a current origin hb coming over and I doubt we would stump up what is needed, it would murder our wage policy. Happy to have widdop as long as other priorities are addressed first.

Thurston and Cronk are 31/32 and with the rise of Ben Hunt and DCE their days as first choice QLD halves are numbered and they've achieved all they can in the NRL so maybe it could be perfect timing for Leeds to make an offer for one of them.

Cronk is looking more and more at the fag end of his career. I think he would look really ordinary without Smith in the team.

Thurston is still majestic at times, easily the best halfback around, but won't be leaving the NRL any time soon for that very reason.

I reckon Aiton can do 80 minutes, and overall having a hooker on the bench is not necessary anymore because it's such a pivotal position now that changing your hooker twice in a game disrupts the structure and balance of the side. IMO we'd be better off with an extra back row on the bench and give Robbie Ward some games if Aiton needs a rest.

Only thing I can think of is Clarke who clearly does not want to be at Warrington, but I'd still take Aiton over him, bit of a show pony.

Clark looks a shell of the player he was last season, and I don't buy the "the he's playing to instruction" line. Higham still runs a lot from DH and it's still part of Warrington's game plan. So I agree he clearly looks like he's sulking at the moment.

Really there's no hooker I can think of at the moment who I'd think would improve us that would leave his current club.

There are probably only 4 hookers in the league that could be possibly deemed as an improvement to what's already at Leeds;

Clarke - Can't see it happening, but would be a good signing
McIlorum - Wouldn't want him, overrated and a grub of a bloke off the field, not a Leeds fit
Roby - Not a cat in hells chance
Houghton - Much more realistic and I'd be very happy to see him brought in

Thinking a little more outside the box, Pellisier from the Dragons, Milner from Cas or Thages from Salford could be brought in as a longer term prospect.

Houghton is a good defender but that's about it, and he can only pass one way, I can't see him leaving Hull where he's captain to come and sit on the bench at Leeds. I really hope we don't waste the money on him.

Pellisier is a good shout.

Milner is a brilliant hooker and very undervalued. Houghton is a terrifically consistent player, and not sure where you get it from he can only pass one way. Thages is a half back not an hooker, and damn good under rated half back at that.

Any recruitment of an hooker I would guess would be to do with what Aitons plans are. I don't think what happens with Burrow comes into it, as clubs are actively moving away from the two hooker plans, or at least it seems to be common opinion.

Nobody rates Henderson then? One of the best hookers in the league imo.
