| At the time (2002-2004) Dunneman was superior in all around game to Burrow and McGuire. He also filled in brilliantly at 9 when we lost Diskin in 2005. I still am convinced that if Joe Vagana had not fallen on Senior's leg in the home league game- basically ending his season (even though he "played" in the CC final) we would have won everything in 2005 and Dunneman would have been a key part of that. We played the best rugby I've seen from a Leeds team and were so close in everything (and let's not forget the Bulls salary cap breach that year and Adrian Morley appearing for their playoff games).

I watched Leeds -Widnes from '89 the other night, The Moriarty elbow game (I was there). That was quick, very solid defence (5m PTB) and aggressive running. I had forgotten why Moriarty was "upset". The first time he carried the ball he got absolutely tw@ed by four Leeds "tacklers". I think Martin Offiah was punched in the face every time he was tackled.'"

| Quote ="The Biffs Back"This game always makes me smile when it is mentioned as on the Saturday night before the game I was in the Town Hall Tavern and quite a few of the Leeds players were also in there too,a few of the boys were clearly a bit worse for ware,But non more so than Craig Izzard who was absolutely 5hit faced and could barely walk come 11pm
Fast forward to game day and I met my pals in the South Stand bar and felt confident in telling them that there was no way that Izzard would play as he was probably still p1ssed even now.
Izzard went onto having a storming game and also ted Joe Grima too...How wrong was I?
The Moriarty hit on Hughie was sickening to see and reminded me of the time that Dannatt did the same to Hanley'" was at hull then and hanley got jeered by some at the boulevard , last player i saw in tht was cookson with no hair didn't recognise him, schoey once only other customer in stoggies, days of smiths arms too;;;post match david ward used to have all players visit each supporters bar when they were all in main stand, murray's side drank together at marquee and skyrack .......ts culture ended drinking a lot though remember bluey celebrating gf at walkabout

| Quote ="DHM"Odd to reply to my own post but I was watching the scrap when Izzard went after Grima and at the end I saw Paul Hulme lying on the deck very, very worse for wear. I spent a few minutes trying to work out what happened to him and then there it was, Steve O'Neill knocking his own player out. Gary Lord had stuck one on O'Neill at the start of the fracas and as things were calming down O'Neill saw Lord come into range and swung one - unfortunately Hulme was stood between them and copped one flush on the chin. I'd never noticed that before. Extremely funny. Wonder if O'Neill owned up afterwards

I was stood in exactly the same spot on the Eastern Terrace when "The Rubber Man" chased Offiah down and nailed him
Everyone in the stadium at the time couldn't believe what they had seen and tbf it was a rare occasion when any player got the better of Offiah in full gallop
Irrespective of Offiah's loss in that sprint race with Lee Oudenryne prior to the game in 1992 V Parramatta he is still the fastest RL player that I have ever seen live

Offiah got a bad start/Oudenryn got a false start but by all accounts Offiah wasn't quite expecting it to be taken quite so seriously by the Aussies!

I was on that terrace as well that night, Gorley hit Roy 3 or 4 times, big Roy crouched down protecting himself and launched an upper cut from about a foot off the ground. Gorley was covered in blood and his legs had gone, I remember both being sent off big Roy ran past us up the slope into the old changing rooms with a daft grin on his face. It took 2 small Widnes trainers forever to get gorley off as he could not support himself. He got dogs abuse from the terrace.. reckon it was around sept 1983.
That’s how I remember it anyway,

| On the Fordy tackle, rumour has it that it wasn't old Phyllis that stopped Offiah from scoring, more when Martin's chin hit the floor at the the surprise of being caught and dug a wedge out of the turf. I was right behind it on the West Stand, looked magnificent two real speedsters in full flight. Be great to see that kind of speed and footrace these days instead of the biff barge kick to the wing stuff we have nowadays.

Offiah was a total freak of a player and he also read the game so well that he popped up on the field and in areas to score tries that i have never seen any other winger do in any era.
Defenders simply couldn't get anywhere near him due to both his speed and evasiveness and plenty of those weren't slow either.
I have found this video montage of Offiah in action and it's well worth a watch even though he never played for us

| Offiah was a natural athlete. He nailed us on many an occasion. The 10 in a game against us was probably the darkest days in our clubs history. Embarrassing.
Offiah in his day was special tho.

Lucky enough not to go, was away that weekend.
Instead decided to watch it in the caravan sites bar which was stuffed to the gills with Cas fans and a Bradford supporting bloke I know through work who couldn't believe his eyes.
Was an absolute inept performance that, the harder they tried the deeper they sank.
Think the majority of our section coach went back to the pub / never left it that day also.
