I too have seen many sixes hit at the old Park Avenue ground over the football stand.
That's where I developed my love for cricket despite even seeing Dickie Bird make his highest ever 1st class score (181*) vs Glamorgan, not an innings containing (m)any sixes hit over the football stand.
I saw Boycott's 1st ever 1st class innings there too, in 1962, vs Pakistan, 4 in each innings.

I agree with everything you have written. My post wasn't a criticism of Leeds fans simply an observation that you don't have to look too far back for evidence that there isn't the demand for this game (for the reasons you highlight) that justifies the wailling and gnashing of teeth about the crowd reduction.

Everyone has to pay and attendances are down compared to a league game apart from maybe the final eliminator(s)

I wonder whether there will come a time where a season ticket gets you into every home game no matter what competition?? If it did how much would GH/RFL bump up the season ticket prices given that no one gives anything away for free.

They would struggle scoring down there, they moved from Lumb Lane years ago, driven out by the locals who used them more than the non-locals!!

I'd go for an idea like this for certain. In my view, there should be two season tickets available one which includes every home match and one that just includes the weekly round matches.

Obviously there are so many issues that need to be thought about. Fans who bought the premium ticket would be rather disgruntled if they didn't get an extra games due to the teams poor performance and even more so if this was due to bad luck (always getting away draws and the like). What's the likelhood of clubs working together to get entry to home and away play-off/CC games included? Pretty similar to the 'reduced rate ticket for another club for season ticket holders' idea that's floated around here a few times.

Then you've got to think how many people would be likely to buy the premium ticket given the risk. It does seem like one of the only ways to get a large crowd along to all pay games. The big draws in the 4th round have shown this (Huddersfield apart).

Another idea that is probably more workable is a loyalty system. Say for every home game you attend, you get 5% or so off your ticket price for each play off match. Say an adult goes to 10 home games paying £20 a pop, they'd get each play off ticket for half price (£20-(10 x £1)). Gives an added incentive to go to regular season matches too which I'm sure the club won't mind. Season ticket holders could get 5% of their season ticket price off each play off match (and possibly off CC cup matches as they'd know their discount upfront). £220 season ticket will get each play-off match ticket for £9.

Any thoughts?
