Saints Dark horses for OT Cas look flat

St Helens very good tonight, castleford not so. They won't be like this again in the super eights though no doubt.

The way Cas' games are scheduled are interesting. Should bounce back and wrap up the LLS soon with their next 3 games vs Salford, Wakey and Hudds.

Then have Leeds, Wigan and Hull last 3 and probably both eyes focused on the playoffs.

Just a small blip for cas. However it shows if teams are prepared to tackle for 80 minutes and close cas down, they don't look so good. Gale looked average tonight, whilst roby was superb. If saints win next week it will really make them a threat.

thats the danger for cas. top spot is all but wrapped up. its difficult to motivate yourself is situations like this, the problem is when you have to step it up again. its not that easy

I'd still back Leeds, Wigan or Saints to beat Cas in a semi or the GF.

Saints with Barba will be a different proposition - shame he is not available until round 4 - he is the boost of positive publicity the competition needs.

Will be interesting if Saints carry on winning it's not easy to change a winning team, if they put him in at FB are they moving Lomax to the halves? Will he hit the ground running, it'll be a year since his last competitive game of RL with a stint of RU in between which hardly every helps players.

One presumes he will start on the bench and they will use him as an impact player - some impact player

I was impressed by Lomax last night, but I guess Saints aren't convinced that he won't be injured again before the end of the season.
Saints defence was outstanding last night & Cas couldn't find an answer despite a vast amount of possession in the Saints half.
Roby was excellent & Wilkin is a great warrior for Saints similar to O'Loughlin at Wigan.
All three will be sorely missed by their supporters when they retire.

Sure I heard in commentary that Walmsley may be on his way out of Saints ? Interesting if true .

Wakey look like they've thrown the towel in already, Salford sounded like they gave it a go vs Hull before falling again. Looking like the current top 4 but just wondering if Hudds could be a dark horse, if they can beat Wigan next week (Hull away to Saints) and then Hull the week before the Cup final they could still catch Hull maybe if they have another post Wembley slump.

You can be sure they will be bang at it against us next week though, no chance of them not being up for that one and as it stands they are still in with a shout on paper.

I still don't think Wigan are out of it. Win next week and they won't be a million miles away.. probably need a few results to fall but Them vs Saints could be the one.

Lomax is key for Saints when he's fit, but he seems to be cursed when injuries are concerned. The Sky team were talking about him and Zak being ahead of Tomkins for England FB, but on form and fitness surely it has to be Zak every time?

True, but I'm still trying to work out what Zak was doing for Saints first try on Thursday.

Should be he's better in every department than tomkins who just seems to be getting more niggly.

Say what you like about Tomkins, but he's still one of the most skillful players in the league, he's just not suited to full back anymore. A more back into the halves at the expense of the rubbish Tommy L could well reignite his career

Big result for KR yesterday beating Leigh away and with home fixtures against Widnes and Catalans to come I think we'll see them back in SL next year which is a better way for McGuire to finish his career.
