I'd have to say it was a penalty too. Looked pretty bad at normal speed but on the replay it was clear that McGuire stepped inside and wrongfooted Goldy who just stuck an arm out. As said above, not malicious but worthy of a penalty.

We should reflect more on the fact that after defending so well we let Sinfield then McGuire make good breaks in quick succession which ultimately led to the penalty.

The games over and we aren't in the final, but in future i think a better way to decide the outcome of a draw should be thought about. I'm not a fan of the golden point or should i say first team to get a drop goal or penalty. A golden try would be better.

it was a penalty no too ways about it,mcguire stepped him and although their was no malice it was high.i havent watched the game again and dont intend to but i thought their were one or two 50/50 calls that didnt go our way whilst in live play but i maybe wrong.

we had our chance to kill off leeds but didnt and they took their chance,it was a bitter pill to swallow but life goes on and you can only learn from such things and hopefully the younger players will take heart in the fact that leeds were no better than us despite having so many key players missing.

Bentham was pretty much average all game and didn't seem to favor either side from what I saw. No doubt it was a penalty for the McGoldrick high shot

Golden point is too much of a coin flip for such an important game.
Should be golden try and if no try then whoever is ahead after 10mins then another 10min if still same.

If that was the rule yesterday what would you do if you were Kevin Sinfield, choose to go for goal to edge infront incase match lasts 10mins or go for a try?

Personally I'd go back to the old system of 10 mins each way extra time and if there's no winner after that, then go to golden point. TBH I think Leeds would have won yesterday using that system - looked to have more energy left and were making more ground upfield than we were.

For an important game the rule should be any penalty like that should have gone to the
video ref ..I have seen the incident 4 times and my opinion it's wasn't a penalty

Well Mcgoldricks tackle can't have been that bad the rfl haven't even looked at it, on the other hand however Watkins has been cautioned for use of the knees on Rangi ... you must remember the incident ... you know the one we didn't even get a penalty for

But you do know Watkins will get off with nothing more than a slap on the wrist and a fine so it won't make a difference anyway.

Too many times I've come away walking away from games shaking my head at the ref this season. I remember a time when I walked out disappointed with Cas for losing.

he has got away with it charged under 15.1 but given a caution he does not have to go to the panel he's a letter saying naughty boy don't do it again

At the game it was way down the other end of the pitch and I thought that it looked like a simple ball steal. However, having seen it on tv I've got to say it was high.

For once, (and I'll be the first to admit that I have in the past) I'm not knocking Goldie as I thought he had a few twicthy moments but otherwise a cracking game, and I hope he doesn't take the final moment too much to heart!

McGoldrick's tackle wasn't that bad, and I don't think anyone's ever suggested it was. He was wrong-footed and reached and grabbed. Penalty, but penalty sufficient.

I think Watkins was probably harshly cautioned to be honest, if you watch in slow motion then you can see he made contact with the knees, but watched at full speed it happened rather quickly to be a pre-meditated act. I've seen worse when players are dropping on a ball on the ground most weeks to be fair.

1) Wouldn't that make the game a thrilling spectacle. 2 officials had a decent view of it, why ask a third?

2) I've watched it a few times now. It was a penalty every single time I watched it. Are you sure you're watching the right incident?

Regarding Goldy's tackle... initial contact was clearly shoulder and then onto the ball carrying arm, at best another 50/50 call that went the 'big' club's way. But meh - it's done with. Move on. As someone said earlier we had chances to stop them getting in that position, chances to win the game in normal time... if this or if that counts for nothing now.

Regarding knees into players and similar actions - in my mind any penalty should reflect the potential for significant injury. It should have nothing to do with intent, which is far more subjective thing to decide upon. It shouldn't matter whether he meant it, only that he did it.

That would have been a penalty every week, in every game, regardless of who was playing and who the ref was; it was a lazy/tired arm in the face and was an easy decision for Bentham. It may be perceived as a harsh way for a tight and important game to end, but McGoldrick has to own that one - Bentham can sleep easy.

I can't help wondering if all the Cas fans arguing that a game should never be decided on a golden point felt the same way a few weeks ago as they were leaving BV, or if they've only arrived at this realisation since, hmmm, some time on Sunday afternoon?

Actually most fans thought it was a bad idea after the HALIFAX game nevermind the Wakey one.

Watched it again and he didn't touch McGuire's face at all. Initial contact was on his shoulder and he dragged his arm down towards the ground diagonally, hence why the ball was displaced.

To be fair, we won and I still felt like golden point was both an anti-climax and a lottery. I'm glad we won, but I still wouldn't vote for golden point. I'd consider golden try, although given how Sunday's game panned out, we might still be there now.

I thought McGoldrick had a good game. I'd be more agrieved about the penalty Bentman gave when he pushed a Leeds player out of his way when he wante a quick PTB and the Rhino went down like he'd been shot - not sure who it was, but he should be embarassed! As for THAT penalty - I thought he tried to knock the ball out 'cos he knew McOscar was past him, which was a clever idea and would have been a brilliant play - but instead gave a clear penalty away. You can't condemn a player for a spur of the moment decision like that, it's what sport is all bout.

it was a penalty either way because it was 2 in the tackle and a ball strip.the referee has nothing to do with it he gave calls castlefords way just as much as he did leeds, the 2 tries dissallowed could of easily stood.it was a great physical game which either team could of won.just like you did against wakey in extra time

Two in the tackle? Cas might have won if there'd even been one in the tackle! Penalty was given for a high tackle (correctly), I dont think it would have been given if he'd hit McOscars arm and knocked the ball out - but we'll never know.
