That really was a shocker of a result, probably the shock of the past couple of months. I was impressed with Fev in both games against us and thought they should have beaten Barra in the NRC semi. The Toulouse result could cost Fev a home tie in the play offs and ultimately the GF !!

You were ably assisted by some goon in the middle in the NR game at the postage stamp............

Don't forget Gateshead.

When Toulouse played Fev a victory was the last chance to get to the play offs. Fev certainly underestimated the opposition and payed it dearly.
The next week, Toulouse underestimated Gateshead (a team they had easily beaten in Gateshead) and squandered the playoffs chances they had won in Fev. The next match opposed a Toulouse outfit without anything to play for (no play offs, no relegation) against a team playing for its survival in this league...

All these results make sense.

Toulouse is a very good side, it showed however two weaknesses (among others): the tendency to underestimate a priori weaker opposition (match lost at Sheffield after their streak of victories and against Gateshead after their victory at Fev), and the lack of team spirit when lagging behind (too many matches lost without bonus point).

What is shows it how much everyone raises their game to beat us.

Gateshead away has been tough for a few sides this season....

Still think there's a lot to be learnt from the eagles, not least how to get on with things and stay under the radar.

A great club, wonder if the RFL and super dooper leagues bods think the same?

I'm an Eagles fan, but here goes:

Stadium meets all criteria but is frankly horrible to spectate at. Eagles will never, ever meet the 40% full criterion unless they take half the seats out!!

Spectator numbers are still low, although when in SL they were comparible if not better than other UK "development" clubs. Whether Sheffield is really a development area is a debate that rumbles on.

Junior development plan is sound but is not yet generating players who are comfortable in CC1, let alone SL.

Finances have been sound.

With Donny in disarray, Eagles are the only near term option to spread SL back into South Yorkshire. However, getting in in 2012 past Widnes, Fax, Fev, Toulouse, Barrow (assuming these clubs reach final / win NRC) seems a long shot.
