exactly pepe, two of fax's tries were gifted to them by ref mistakes today, the touch judge even gave the crossing it was that blatent.

we won today because we played a more measured, more composed game in attack and for most of the game dominated the ruck in defence cutting off gleeson, penky and beswick from doing much around there

the ref left the ground with an escort - a very bad day at the office for him

Laughton and his terrible assistants were a shambles today. I hope they feel good accepting their paychecks. How old was the kid running the line on the Skircoat side in the 1st half, he looked scared stiff. The RFL should hang their heads in shame appointing such in-adequate fools for such an important fixture.

Appalling performance today from the ref. Both teams strayed off-side but he only penalised one. What a goat.

We had Ronnie the Clown last week v Gateshaed and he was .... well just Ronnie..... a total tool...

What was the consistency like? Was he consistent? This is my BIG problem with referees - that and differing rule interpretations depending on what week it is.

He was consistently good for them if that helps.............

well he didn't seem to be today - 9 penalties against Fax first half and 2 against us in the second - thing is I cannot say we changed our playing style at all - the assessor seemed to be busy at half time no doubt

They don't have assessors anymore, they're called match commissioners if that helps.

Have to say we lost the game due to not being clever enough with the ball and keeping it tight BUT Laughton piggy backed them up the field several times and gave the try that was grounded short, a crucial score for them.
He did us NO FAVOURS at all, the 'crossing' was a 50/50 and not a dead cert, so sodd off Widnes fans stop trying to balance the books. There was also that holding down incident up at their end first half when we should have got a penalty yet he plays on it was the last tackle, great.
There was also when their guy lost the ball and they got a penalty to level the scores, it was really not clear that we had stole it and why would we at the wrong end of the field, it just bobbled out of a 3 man tackle.
I noticed Laughton was walking off at half time chatting and smiling with the Widnes players, impartial???

Yes OK it was all Ronnie's fault, we could never have won without him.

It don't happen, ALL teams get offside at some part of a game.

Widnes won the forward battle. Surprising, but it happened. Our backs and halfbacks did the rest.

You missed the point, the offisdes gave you good field position which your pack took advantage of yes, your backs were average it was the short drives that did us from the piggy backing first half.

Then perhaps Calland should drill your team better at the play the ball.

I thought he was quite bad to be honest, and yes, inconsistant, but to have whined about him after Gateshead had taken us apart anyway would have ben ungracious.
