| I know, I read the courier site about 2 hours ago
As long as it gets finished, I aren't overly bothered how much it costs, as long as it doesnt lead to Astronomical Rent prices for the club.

Of couse it will impact the rent. There will be a business plan that repays the debt over a period of time. The more it costs the more the rent will be.
If you take a loan out over 3 years, you'd expect borrowing another couple of grand to cost you more over the same period.

| What I don't understand is how the Council will have spent an additional £500,000 because:
Quote The latest estimate is much higher because Calderdale Council has received £190,000 from the Football Foundation.'"
Surely they will have spent £190,000 less, or they have £190,000 extra to spend

| Easy Yob, you will give the council's accountants a headache. That’s not fair when they have got their GCSEs tomorrow.

Hey thats the Courier journo not the Council - they have put it the wrong way round.
Journos, came past some in Leeds today asking for a hoot to support them in their fight to keep their jobs.
You must be joking, journos = writers of total garbage and tellers of none truths!

How is it the wrong way round?
Surely it's not cost £190,000 more because they've been given £500,000!

| New lease was only agreed and signed a few months back - will be a good while before the council can increase the rent plus there will be many more new revenue streams

Like I said Journos - make a story read how they want to put it.
Its the COURIER saying £5 million so people believe it looks like you have - never believe all what you read especially in Newspapers like the Worrier.
I have no idea what its cost its nowt to do with me, all I know is that the figure of £4.5 million has been mentioned, the Football Foundation money is supposed to be £190,000 so the Courier add £190K to £4.5 million and come up with = sensational news story £5 million.
They must also work for RBS with those kind of sums!

| I am almost certain that the outstanding balance from the FSIF (Football Stadium Improvement Fund, which supersceded the Football Foundation) was around £312k. A very confusing article.
Either way, and I know some wont like this, it shows that SST did a good job. Who, 6 / 7 years ago would have envisaged CMBC putting £5m into completing the Shay? Must have taken some persuading.

I imagine having a national embarressment for a sports ground in the town was the chief persuading factor for the council. The chief thing that the SST managed was keeping solvent for all those years

| Am I right in thinking that the £190k is being paid back to the football chappies to pay for some outstanding borrowings from them and that is why it will cost more or have the courier got it spectacularly wrong and the money is what was being held back until the stand actually got re-started and so will actually mean the stand will cost less. I cant work it out from the article or any of the posts.

Sorry Bubba have to disagree - it was people power that won the day, that march on the Town Hall by Town and Fax fans showed the local politicians that there was a lot of anger about the Shay and the new CE at Calderdale knew that the Shay and Broad Street MUST happen or else CMBC's credibility will be rock bottom.
SST helped no question about that but the facts are they failed as they went bust.

| SST still exists so it cant have gone bust and I doubt if it had gone bust the company directors would be happy - some of which own their own companies.
Obviously SST failed in finding the finances to complete the stand. In hindsight the aim of a not-for-profit organisation completing the stadium was too ambitious. The concept of an independent company such as SST does have its merits however once the stadium is completed.
I think when the stand is finished those involved over the years should be proud of their involvement. That includes those who have served on the Board of Directors representing Halifax Town Supporters' Trust and both Margaret Wilson and Mal in representing 'Fax Trust.
It hasnt been an ideal conclusion, but before the end of the year that bloody stand will finally be finished. A day which some never thought we would never see.

Hey I have never said that the concept of a Stadium Company rather than the Council is not the best option for the Shay provided it is run by the right people! Have to say as a user the Shay 5 a side facilities they are the best we have ever had now imo so the Council are doing a decent job so far.
The SST did help and yes those involved can be patted on the back for laying the foundations for where we are now.
If the SST still exist then it can pay the money back to those that helped set them up!

I am sure they have every intention of paying it back , every company has a business plan and I have no doubt the SST have very sensibly budgeted and set aside to repay what was loaned to them in good faith.

Thing is the SST should have had this set aside anyway never mind relying on any debtors!
I hope they pay it back and we can all shut up and enjoy the new stand which at the end of the day will be a terrific facility and make the Shay a decent stadium - AT LAST!

If they had the money to set aside in the first place, they wouldn't have needed to borrow it.
Business doesn't work like that. It's nearly always a case of somebody is waiting for somebody else to pay them before they can pay out them selves. I believe a cash rich business is the exception rather than the norm.

Don't want to flog this to death but in 5 years surely there should have been a plan of action to ensure that the £20K 'loaned' by HTFC (as was) HRLFC, HTST and HRLFC Supporters Trust to help set up the SST would be there at the end of the 5 years - no?
Remember its fans who have paid some of this money in HTST and Fax Trust - not a business.
The only ones that should owe the SST money are the two clubs in theory so surely take the loan money they are owed from that???
I am not on the Fax Trust Board anymore so not my battle but I have always been a member of the Fax Trust and HTST so not impressed.
A loan with no interest was a generous offer and that should be honoured imo.
