Been to see it today.

The plot is very basic.

The fight scenes are just fantastic. I'd go as far to say the best i've seen in any film.

Also it's good to see a film with nowt taken out, not dumbed down to get a lower certificate, at points the acton is just brutal.

I recommed [iThe Way[/i (Emilio Estevez), pretty moving, and afterwards you'll probably want to walk 790km like I do.

Prometheus - visually an impressive film but not enough gore for me. Charlize Theron looks stunning though.

Dutch/German with subtitles. Another true story about Heroic real people saving others from the camps and gas chambers this time in WW2 Holland.

Just watched The Dictator today, Pretty disappointed to be honest. If you've seen the trailer then that contains pretty much all the funny bits and even when those bits where in the film they'd been edited very differently with bits that where in the trailer not in the film!.

A few laughs but certainly didn't meet my expectations and seemed to play on the same "easy" jokes all the way through. Certainly didn't have the shock factor that Borat had.

It's Italian set in the concentration camps, it really is a beautiful film considering the backdrop.

If you're looking for films about the holocaust [i[url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shoah_(film)Shoah[/url[/i (I haven't yet seen it) is supposed to be pretty good. Also [iNight And Fog[/i is still as powerful now as it ever was.

An interesting holocaust film is The Counterfeiters. A german film about the forging of allied bank notes.

Watched Chronicle tonight. Wasn't expecting much to be honest, but I was pleasantly surprised. I'm sure the cultured film buffs who seem to post on here would find it that great, but I really enjoyed it. Just how cool would it be?

Yes, I went to the cinema to see 'Chronicle' with similarly low expectations and came away pleasantly surprised.

Nothing fancy, nothing too deep and meaningful, but, despite this, a really good film.

I thought [iChronicle[/i was pretty good up until the final third when it went a bit run-of-the-mill and fell into cliche.

Anyone seen Prometheus yet?

I thought it was pretty enjoyable. By no means a classic but worth watching, just don't pay extra for the 3D, I don't think it adds anything to it.

Just got back from seeing it and was disappointed tbh. Expected another version of Alien which we got in the 1st part, then went all gung-ho and turned into Aliens for the 2nd part. Excellent special effects though. 4/10

De Niro got a new 1 out in 2 weeks which looks quite watchable.

Yup, I too was underwhelmed.

Scott was at pains to stress it's not an Alien prequel and it's a stand alone film. Well, for my money, he's remade Alien just not as good with nowhere near the tension of Alien.

Well made, looks great, well acted but, frankly, watch Alien instead.

To be fair, ANYTHING compared to 'Alien' is going to suffer in comparison, it is probably the finest horror film ever made.

The 3 sequels couldn't come close to matching it, so a prequel doesn't stand much chance, does it?

Parts of the original Alien are good, but its very, very slow to get going. They also never explained (actually across all the Aliens movies although I know they took ever-increasing liberties with timings) how the heck it grew from the size of a rat to bigger than a man without seemingly eating anything. Or did I miss the bit where it raided the canteen?
