Love these. Without going into plot details, the later stages of the second film had me going through an absolute shed load of hankies. But not in a sentimental way.

I think it's enormous fun. A pastiche/homage to all sorts of things, from musicals to country house murder mysteries.

And an absolute dream of a cast. Plus, within that dreamy cast, Catherine Deneuve gets to kiss another woman – and not in a French cheek-to-cheek manner.

That does sound excellent, not least the pastiche. I'll stick to broadband for my girl action though

Watched Gran Torino last night - was reasonable. Wasn't blown away but not exactly dissapointed.

Watched Drive last night and it blew me away, a truly fantastic film.

Film of the year would be either Drive or Animal Kingdom.

Looking forward to a film called Like Crazy which comes out soon plus later in the year Batman and Django Unchained.

Plus i watched a cult classic Miracle Mile, love some of the 80's film more than modern films, it seemed to be the era of people just going for it regardless of box office takings, plus all the dodgy 80's syth soundtracks, cool.

Plus anyone ever seen a film called La Jetée? Apparently it's the original inspiration for 12 Monkeys, only found out about it today when a bloke was taking about it, is it any good?

Although it's the inspiration for it, it is a completely different experience. Definitely worth a look. You can usually pick it up on a double header (both films on the same disc) with [iSans Soleil[/i which is even better.

Not really. As far as I could tell (from my one viewing many years ago), when 'The Event' (DO NOT think about The Event) happened again, he got transported to one of the moons of Saturn.

I was thinking, first if you die right on the point of 'the Event' you are left alone by what ever 'the event' is so in theory he should still be on earth, how the bloody hell he ends up on a beach looking at Saturn i'll never know?

Enjoyed it, it made wonder what i'd do in his situation being on my own but the end just didn't explain anything, in fact confused the b'jesus out of me?

Watched The Descendants last night.....Good film, very good performances - Can see why Gorgeous George is being picked for the Oscar.

However, just a small heads up....Whilst its a well-written tale, with nice touches of humour and heartbreak, it seems to me to be a 'dvd at home' type of film, rather than the 'blockbusting cinema' type that many visit their multiplex to see.

Well recommended though....8/10.

You would be better off seeing the original trilogy than a Hollywood attempt.

You maybe right. People who have seen both seem to favour the original. I'll try and get the original on Netflix.

I prefer the Swedish one but there's not a whole lot in it. The Hollywood one is still well worth watching.

I signed up for the free one-month trial on Netflix but found the selection of films to be pretty bad. Watching the TV series Damages at the moment though which is pretty good.

Notice that Lovefilm are doing a free trial as well so might sign up for the hell of it as well.

Seems like each service has certain titles which are exclusive which is a pain in the backside really.
