Dunno how good it is, but I'm no more inclined to watch a Polanski film than I am to listen to a Gary Glitter album.

| Watched Girl With The Dragon Tattoo last night, and tbh, was a little disappointed. Have not seen the Swedish version, but my major quib with a lot of these American remakes of European films is, why don't they just change the location to somewhere in America? The actors start off with Swedish accents, then for some reason during the film, they revert back to their English accents, then back to Swedish. Quite annoying imo.
The film is quite long, easily 2 hours plus, but the final segment of the film is not really needed, and does'nt offer much too the film itself.
Saying that, it is well acted and directed, and gets 7/10.

| Watched the new Mission Impossible film last night in the abomination that is Keighley Picture House.
As action thrillers go, it wasn't too bad, certainly an improvement on previous films in the franchise.
I managed to seek 4 bottles of ale in as well which got me started for New Years Eve which was a bit of a bonus.

| Loved 'Ghost Protocol' - found it hard to watch the scene where he is climbing up the building in Dubai - brilliant action sequences and well acted.
8/10.

You'll have to watch the series 1st to get the jokes and characters. The series is funnier than the film btw.

It is indeed teenage humour - still, I thought the film was good, but not as good as the series, and without watching the series you definitely wouldn't quite 'get' it. As a standalone film I can see why it would struggle.
The first and second series were fantastic, the third series started to look a bit jaded. The film recycled some of the ideas but tried a bit too hard in places.

There's always a few good recommendations on this thread (I've picked up several, shame Spaulding isn't still around as he had an encyclopedic knowledge) so stayed tuned. What sort of things do you normally go for and what can't you stand? Good luck and enjoy

| I started my rentals off with 2 pretty awesome films. Killing Fields and The Lives of Others. I'd never seen Killing Fields and was very impressed. I'd seen The Lives of Others a few years ago and really enjoyed it, so I thought I'd try again, it was even better 2nd time round.
I like films to be realistic, preferably no Star Wars type sci-fi

I love the second half of [iThe Killing Fields[/i when the guy is trapsing through them. It's incredible stuff seeing as Cambodian guy was a survivor who escaped to Thailand. Didn't think much of the American guy though and I've seen him in a couple of films where he's stood out like a sore thumb lol.
Try a couple of these, if you haven't seen them already:
[iThe Sea Inside
I Heart Huckabees
The Conversation
Wages of Fear
Whatever Happened To Baby Jane
Sullivan's Travels
Jean De Florette/Manon Des Sources
[/i

| Watched [iCity of War , The story of John Rabe[/i last night. If you liked Schindlers list ,Then you'll like this movie as it's on the same sort of lines but set during the Japanese rape of Nanking in 1937.
