Hardly, most of the stuff they use is mid range PC gear wrapped up in a nice design.
Quote ="christopher"that are designed and built extremely well'"
About the only thing they do worth shouting about, a lot of companies need to take lead from them and design products better (a lot of the Ultrabooks are starting to do this now)
Quote ="christopher"they charge a premium for that (I agree the products are expensive) but some people are prepared to pay for that, I can't understand why you get so worked up over it.'"
Apple tax!
You could build your own version of a Mac Pro for under a third of the price, the only difference is you don't get that Apple logo stuck on the side which adds to the cost.
The biggest problems with Apple:
- Products aren't anywhere near as good as they make out, especially at the prices they sell them for (Samsung make better products, for example).
- Inane patents - this week they were granted a patent for using maps on a touchscreen device!
They're a great bunch of marketing people who have drawn millions of people in hook, line & sinker with the OOOH LOOK AT OUR SHINY NEW THING whilst adding very little, or in the case of the Macbook Pro...taking a lot out (ethernet, DVD drive, dedicated graphics chip) and increasing the price.
OSX is a good OS and the iPod is great but everything else they do is over priced and average from a tech standpoint.

I have done and it cost way under £500 for a quad core machine.

| Ok, so tomorrow I get my first ever iPhone, work are swapping our Blackberries for the iPhone 5.
They've asked us to set up an Apple ID/iTune account - I already have one but a little research is telling me once I set up my Mail profile with our Microsoft Exchange, IT can then access my phone and view my Apple account remotely, and get up to various tricks if they so desire.
Is this true? If so I'll set up another separate Apple ID for my work phone.
Thanks...

Still getting to know it, but for a complete technophobe I'm getting there.

Say it in a Cas accent, it makes perfect sense, admittedly its like having to learn a foreign language, but it has some roots in English and can be picked up quite quickly.

| I've got the Samsung Galaxy S3 (the original one), and over the past few days it has started shutting down on its own with no warning, despite having plenty of charge.
It does it randomly and is quite annoying, as it sometimes takes a while before I've noticed if I haven't been using my phone for a hour or two.
When it does this, I usually need to remove the battery to get it to fire back up again.
Not done the latest software update yet, but unsure if that is relevant.
Checked the little square on the battery and there is no indication of water damage.
Any help appreciated.

best (and cheapest) bet is replacing your battery, my old HTC did something similar and a new battery sorted it out

| Help!
I installed Gmail on my iPhone 5 at christmas. Has worked fine up until now, but this lunchtime I have started getting 'cannot get mail - the user name or password for "Gmail" is incorrect '
I thought google might have temporarily blocked the account, so followed a weblink to authorize the device. However this does not appear to have solved the problem. I am still getting the same error message. Any ideas?
Thanks

Problem is with Google. All Gmail is down at the moment, I believe.
Edit: It's not all Gmail, but there is a problem affecting some users. You're probably one of them.

So is mine. It seems The Penguin is one of the unfortunate few. Either that or his iPhone is shagged.

| Happened to a few people apparently. Resolved this problem by uninstalling gmail through the 'mail' app and downloading the gmail app. Bit of a pain but what can you do?

| Its upgrade time again, currently got HTC One which im happy with, but fancy trying Galaxy S4 or Experia Z.
Any thoughts on the other 2, or are they a downgrade on HTC?
I appreciate a lot is down to personal preference and I really dont want an iPhone no matter what

Are you meaning the old HTC One with it's X and X+ variant or the newly released HTC One? I have both the Xperia Z and the newly released HTC One. I prefer the build quality and design of the new HTC one, but like the bigger screen on the Z. They're both running android 4.1.2. Have never had a samsung galaxy S due to not liking the garish screen. I have the Blackberry Z10 as well and actually prefer the operating system on that to android. windows mobile 8 is a good systems as well.

| Compared to the HTC desire I had, any phone was an upgrade. It was absolute tosh. Now have a work Galaxy S3 and this morning taken delivery of a Galaxy S4 for personal use. The S3 is the best phone i've ever had.

| I'm now thinking of replacing my Nokia N8.00 (Belle) and also getting a tablet for my database (MS Access based). I don't play games or stream movies or any of the other bollox but am getting peed off at the lack of useful apps for the Nokia platform.
So I'm looking for a new smartphone and tablet that are compatible. I'll be purchasing outright and using sim only, I don't go for contracts.
Oh one more thing, nothing beginning with "i" please

Check out the Samsung Galaxy bundles that are available, you can get a Galaxy S2 phone (still a damn good phone) and a 7" Tab2 for not a whole lot of money. Or go for the Samsung Note2 and have the best of both.

I'll probaby go for the phone + Tab option mate, although I'll probably plump for the 10" version (me eye's aren't what they used to be)

Compare the speeds first before you decide, when you have a slow tablet you need a hobby to be getting on with during page changes.
