The very next article involved having a conversation with Michelle Dewberry on the settee who is a very successful business woman from Hull who admits she wasn't well educated.

Of course, it'll vary. But I've tried Hackney, Brixton, several renowned areas of Liverpool, etc and central Hull has a rate several TIMES higher than all. Why? I'll try Salford next.

Salford, rate less than a third of Hull's.

I'll leave it to you to see if you can find somewhere with a higher rate.

You are a prize one! You asked me to back up my assertion that Hull seemed to have a high crime rate. So I searched Hull - not surprisingly Central Hull came up. I am not familiar with the good / bad areas of Hull, so it's entirely reasonable. Hackney will probably have a population larger than Hull's and is a deprived inner city borough. I also searches areas like Birkenhead, Kirkby, Toxteth and Bootle - none came close to Hull.

Having refined my searches I note that Central Leeds has more than twice the crime rate of Hull! must be a Yorkshire thing.

But when you look at the rest of the data it seems strange that only one area of the city is classed as red.
