Hi,

Can any of you French RL officionados tell me when the next Elite 1 season kicks off and whether there is a magic weekend?

Having trawled through the French club websites it looks as though there is somewhat of a revamp with the FFR structure this coming season. We are looking to make our annual lads trip across to Carcassonne/Toulouse region to take in a couple of games and obviously need to know fixtures before we can book our flights.

There is a new format. 8 teams in Elite 1, two regionalised groups of 6 in Elite 2. Top two of each group in Elite 2 join the Championship play-offs at the end of the season for which all eight Elite 1 sides qualify for, but with the top two going straight to the semi-finals, 3rd and 4th into the quarters.

don't know about a Magic Weekend, that's not yet been decided but the new LER season will start on the 22nd september - fixtures to follow within the new format

as a matter of interest a new club (Catus Rugby XIII) has been formed, it's about 10 miles north of Cahors which at present boasts a wheelchair team - the aim of the club is to develop an academy
