Yes that's the one. 2 Rovers players and 4 Northern. Jeff Grayshon was the 6th player to get sent off

And it was him who took the players of great days just the bloody cold weather that spoilt does days

I have that game on DVD, bought off someone on the internet It was a very niggly game, more than I remember at the actual time to be honest

There were a LOT more sending offs in them days. 'Open Rugby' ran an article mid 80s about red cards over a 5 year period. From memory I think the 3rd / 4th worst offenders had 19 / 20 dismissals. Rovers & Warrington were tied 1st, sure it was around 57 each.

Different game back then. You needed to be able to give and take the rough stuff if you wanted to win.

Halfbacks used to get some terrible treatment. Far more broken jaws and cheekbones from high shots. Poor Roger Millward was targeted a lot. Same for others too.
