| Kris has been a great servant to Rovers watched him since his debut against Leigh, think it was around 2006. Had some good years and should be his peak now. He wasn't helped with the horrible injuries in the last few years but has come back well this year. I would hope that he would stay but money seems to be the issue. Isn't it his 10 years 2016 so would qualify for his testimonial which would be well supported ? Castleford has been the club mentioned.
On the issue of money Kris is a senior pro and at the stage of his career should receive a decent salary, his valuation and what Rover's are prepared to pay.

Why should he receive a decent salary just because he's been with us a long time he's had a good season but the previous 2 seasons he was robbing a living off rovers

| Been a really good servant for us,but since his broken leg in the catalans game,he took a long time to get his form back. This has been his best since the injury, but to be fair if we have high aspirations of the top 4,I feel we would need better centres than welham and salter who is sound on defence, but never seems to make a break or score a try,and welham who is ok on attack but as always weak in defence.Good luck to kris wherever he goes and thanks for the effort you have put in over the last 9 years.

| If we want to move on as a team people have to accept that players such as Welham are never going to help us achieve that.
Gingers are well known for bringing bad luck and being the Harbinger's of doom.
In mediaeval times, gingers had the power to turn the milk sour because they got irked that people called them "Milky".
Just look at all the evil gingers there's been throughout history. King Herod, Ginger. Adolf Hitler, Ginger. Jamie F*#@*%#&@ Sandie, Ginger.

| So the rumour I quoted was true, then.
This season I have seen glimpses of the Kris Welham of old who was outstanding in the Justin Morgan era, but not enough of them.
I reckon his CC final roasting from all sides by Watkins and Briscoe sealed his fate in Chezzies mind.
From a tonsorial point of view, I would argue that ginger women usually provide a very good look and may not be harbingers of bad luck that Goose suggests.

| Gone. Confirmed by the Club.
Been a great servant and I for one will miss standing in the East Stand watching him flying out of the line and wondering where the heck he is going!
Good luck Kris.

| Geniune thought - would you rather have retained Cockayne or Welham? I'm not for a second suggesting it's that straightforward but I would rather have kept Kris and maybe the money we're paying Cockayne could have been used there instead?

But cockayne can play on the wing full back or hooker and maybe at a push welham only so cockayne is a good backup

Good question. On the basis of contribution this season, I would have retained both and binned Salter. To answer the question directly, I would definitely retain Cockayne for his utility value.

If you'd lived my experience's of the evil gingers, you'd know I was correct.
Was up in your manor at the weekend, at them sheds at Cropton Forest, very nice.
All,jokes aside can't quite believe this has happened with Krissy really like the kid and it'll be very weird to see him line up against us.
He's had a great season with us this year and I can't wish him anything but the best.
Good luck Kris, in my opinion, he never did anything but give his all, you can't ask more than that.

| Sad to see him go, thought they'd come to some agreement with a testimonial not far away.
Been close to career best form this season IMO.
Hope he gets a big send off next week.
Good luck Kris.

Aye, couldn't agree more. A player who I enjoyed watching play for Rovers a lot.
I'll always remember his try in the play-off game we won. Arguably the high point of our SL adventures.

| Welham much improved after 2 dire seasons. He's been pretty solid this season but still not top class compared to certain teams. Probably leaving because he won't be a first choice centre next season. Shame to see him go all the same. On the other hand can someone please send a taxi for Turnstile Salter ASAP.

| I do get frustrated with some of the comments on here! not good enough for Rovers not the standard we want? This is the Kris Wellham who would have had international honours if he had not had a season ending injury (playing for Rovers) The Kris Wellham who is getting back to near his best & will captain the side tomorrow. I can't argue with the club or Kris if they can't agree & part company but to read some of the drivell on here turns my stomach, He has served this club well for 9 years. Finaly where are all the world class stars we are replacing him with? non of our recent signings in that area are any better than him. Good luck Kris I expect we will regret letting you go.

I thought it was just me that heard Stevo say that. FC seem to be well stocked in that department at the minute whilst we are not, so could be a possibility

Have you forgotten the two seasons previous to this one when he was terrible and that he was offered a contract earlier in the season but turned it down take those rose tinted glasses off as I for one won't miss him jumping out the line leaving his winger exposed good servant yes but time to go

| So, all of a sudden, Kris Welham with his 100 tries in 189 super league games isn't good enough for rovers? As it stands in 2016 we'll have Thornley (replacing Goulding), Minns (replacing Welham) and Salter fighting for the centre positions. I reckon that makes us weaker in the centres at the start of 2016 than we were in 2015 and we only managed to finish 10th this year! Unless, of course, we've got another top centre lined up but with our overseas quota full, which British centre could we realistically get to improve on 2015 squad? Starting to get a bit worried about our recruitment strategy. We also need major additions to the pack if we're aiming to go from 10th to 6th next year. Can't see where the better players to improve us will come from.

As far as i'm aware he was one of the top earners at the club after Leeds came sniffing around prior to him signing his current contract, is he quality enough to be a top earner in the team? NO! he was offered a new contract on reduced rates which he couldn't accept (his choice). he spent 2 years of his current 3 year deal being terrible and a liability in defence. this season he has screwed the nut a bit and played better but not enough to justify a contract extension on par with his current rate in my opinion. for the club to progress they need to replace the weak links with better quality players or young players with potential to be better than what is already at the club. Kris was definitely a weak link in defence, let him go and frustrate a different set of fans for a while.
