My very first thoughts on dual refs was it cause confusion,then i thought we dont have enough good refs for one at each english game ,but after I watched the souths manly game i was impressed ,they did not miss many decisions,the play the ball was miles quicker than ours around 3 seconds per play the ball and the teams were kept a massive 10 metres apart on the play the ball.After seeing Robert Hicks trying his best to ref the game vs Leeds on sunday maybe we need 2 refs at our matches.
Another point with the massive amounts of cash in the aussie game what if they wanted to recruit Bentham and Silverwood our only two decent refs now Ganson has moved up it would not be good for our game.

not sure I'd put bentham in the decent category tbh.

like you I wasn't sold on 2 refs in the NRL at first but it works really well over there. Just think if they brought it in over here we'd end up with thaler and bentham every week and get screwed both ways!

Having just seen the Sharks v Bulldogs I dont think that 2 refs would be any better they got 4 or 5 decisions totaly wrong & even penalised the Dogs captain for asking them to look at the video wich showed them to be totally wrong. My opinion is that the refs are failing to penalise numerous offsides & incorrect play the balls in the name of speeding up the game, yet they heavily penalise the slightest contact with the head in the tackle or the hand near the ball in the ruck. With back to back sets costing teams way in excess of the severity of the penalised ofence the refs are having far to big an influence on the outcome of the result. They even ignore the fact a droped ball is not a knock on unless it travels forward off the hand. I think we should look again at how penaties are graded with only serious foul & dangerous play (striking, triping, deliberate offside & cheating) should be a full penalty the rest (obstruction,offside, kicking off out on the full & other technical infringements) a tap on the point of the offence should be awarded. It would not stop the ref awarding a penalty if he thinks a team is habitualy offending to wast time or save a try. I have probably missed some point but the addministrators should realy ask us the customer what we want to see out on the pitch, for me I want to see the rules of the game applied every time there is an offence not when they feel like it just to speed up the game.

Can you imagine Hicks and Thaler together, I'd take up tiddly winks instead.

tiddly winks with hicks reffing that,im sure he could totally ignore most of the rules and spoil what could of been a good game .
