just watching NRL full time and i cant believe how bad the tackling is in the NRL they slag super league off but ive seen schoolkids tackle better

Which games(s) are you referring to? The best defenders on the planet play in the NRL.

If you watch highlights of any game you will see defensive errors and tries scored.

Good defence is 60 boring minutes with no tries scored.

Cowboys vs Broncos was scoreless for over an hour last week & that was a great game

The highlights package would still have shown the other 20 minutes.

On the contrary, some of the best games I've seen have been low scoring affairs. This is an over-generalisation. I'd suggest you watch some NRL...

In Australia at the minute, and to an extent yeah highlights will show poor tackling as it is only highlights. But NRL is much quicker an as there are 2 Refs the rucks are much cleaner and quicker making it suit the attacking side. Also NRL has some of the best attacking players in the world, again difficult for defenders.

NRL is quicker but teams base there game on defence which be boring at times (one out rugby). But I watched Storm v Bulldogs earlier and that was a great game.

I've watched about 4 games a week for the last 40 years - often one live - plus lower grades - some weekends i'll watch under 16s, under 18s, under 20s, reserve grade and firstgrade live. Hell, i've been known to drive 1000 miles to watch the under 16s play in bloody Canberra, which is the coldest place on earth.

Robot like defence is crap. That's largely why I like watching the lower grades.

It's common knowledge on here that roops is Mr Newcastle knights and what he doesn't know about the NRL isn't worth knowing.

I know a lot about the Knights - more than most about the lower grades - but i'm not really up on other sides.

You have certainly been a welcome addition to this forum with your knowledge about Sandercock, McDonnell, Mika etc.

Standards are much higher in the NRL in all areas. Its a fact.

The same gets said about Super Rugby in Union, the SH teams can't defend is all you ever hear, but you rarely see a team from the North run in any decent number of tries. The reason why that is, and why at times NRL defence can look poor, is because they're far superior on attack.

Well if the defence is rubbish then we should put high scores on the Australians, that's the logical conclusion of what you stated in your opening post.

If we can't and aren't going to put high scores on the Australians then it's clear that their defence isn't rubbish, but instead their attack happens to be awesome, something people often get mixed up.

It's a dichotomy, there is no middle position.

It's great watching a game in Aus we watched broncos v titans and rabbits v roosters nothing like over here tho enjoy

The atmosphere is rubbish compared to Super League (no chanting) but the standard of rugby is better

TBF - The atmosphere @ FC, us, Hudds, Wakey, Saints, London, Bradford etc hardly comes across well on TV half the time either.
