With the mixed reaction to the new membership scheme, I was wondering what alternative or additional sources of revenue people think the club should consider pursuing.

First proposal for debate:

Should Rovers 'hire' the KC for the home derby game in 2010? Would add 8-10k to the gate. Maybe write the money from 3-4k of the extra tickets off to cover costs (I've just completely made that figure up, admittedly). Estimated [iadditional[/i income ~£100K.

NB. Please feel free to make other suggestions, in addition to slagging this one off.

Income aside it would really devalue the game and could lead towards all sorts of external merger proposals again.

I'd rather be forced to eat 10 of the shoe leather burgers at each and every home game for the rest of my life whilst being made to to listen to cheeky charlies views on the game.

Even if you were sponsored, it still wouldn't raise £100k.

Why? It's a community stadium. Would a pop concert, for example, need the tenants approval too?

Rovers played 7 successive 'home' derbies at Boothferry Park in the 1950s, which were very successful and only ceased because of a change to football league rules, so moving the fixture isn't without precedent.

Don't think the KC's for hire. No concerts or internationals since Duffen's been at the helm.

Priority for the tenants is paramount

Unless the derby falls during the football season, there won't be a fixture clash. Unless Duffen has paid for the privelige to veto events (which, in fairness, he might have for all I know), making the stadium unavailable and turning down income isn't what I'd be looking for as a stake- or shareholder.

I agree extending CP would be a wise investment, but even if it is a success Club Rovers, will pull in maybe £200k and that doesn't buy an awful lot of stadium. Extending much above 12K capacity wouldn't make much sense for 12 of the 13 home fixtures, so the KC would still offer extra £££s for the derby. Also this thread is about making money, not spending it!

It's a good idea. Don't let the one eyed dobbins put you off. Write to the ambulanvce chaser and suggest it to him. The KC will look great with 7000 dobbins fans in when the Hull fans boycott the game cos they can't get in the East stand

There have been stories (they may have substance, I don't know not having seen the lease, but they have been circulating for years) that in order for a team to play there (beyond FC & City) that agreement is needed from both current tenants of the stadium.

Extend the East stand, it will more than pay for itself.

Improve catering and bars at the ground, how much do we lose in lost income due to poor food quality, queing to get a drink etc. Look at how packed soccer sensations is, that's HKR money going to someone else.

Work with the Hull Tourist board to encourage away fans ie Buy a game ticket and get 1/2 price entry to the Deep that morning etc. Getting more away fans to the game could add 500 onto each gate.
