You're missing the point. Hudgell chose to charge Hull FC supporters £17 for the South Stand. Did any other away supporters get charged the same? All that extra money was put into Rovers bank account. If Rovers fans are willing to pay £1 extra to see the derby, then, as Trace has said, that's good business - it's a free Market. Those extra £1s are therefore Hull FC's income to do what they want with. Hull FC are choosing to donate those £1s to charity. Let's see if Hudgell does the same this year.'" '"
I reckon the price will be £18 this year with £1 donated to charity

Hudgell took the opportunity to fleece FC fans for £7 each more than the going rate last season and chose to keep all the money. Hull FC are just adopting the same principle but donating the surplus to a charitable cause. Think yourself lucky. Compared to everyone else, FC fans paid a 70% premium to attend Craven Park - if you applied that premium at the KC you'd be looking at £34 a ticket.
It's not only Rovers fans that are paying it. FC have about 8000 passholders and a sellout would be 23000, leaving 15000 tickets to sell. Are you bringing 15000? Probably half that.

Don't have a problem with the extra quid for a good cause myself, but your wrong about the 70% surcharge and you know it, stop $hit stirring, our stated price for standing is what it is, the club opted to offer discounts for games where they thought it might attract extra support, with the derby they knew they did not have to employ such a strategy, its supply and demand. If you were selling TV's at £300 and there was two customers for every telly you would NOT give a discount, you would if you had a few hundred you couldn't sell though.

Which games does the "discount" not apply to then? Can't be Leeds as that's always one of the highest attendances. Oh, hang on, 2009 South Stand prices v Leeds, £10, South Stand prices v Wakefield £10. Would be good to get a list of the games in 2008 where the charge for the South Stand was £17 as you seem to be saying it would be for the vast majority. I'm not denying it's supply and demand, but I am saying it's 70% more than most clubs paid and all went straight to Rovers, yet Hull are being slated for charging a 5% premium and giving it to Children in Need.

But the price was always advertised at that price wasn't it? Part of this will have been due to increased costs as mentioned earlier, but I can't condone this tbh (ah well ).
I think it's the way Hull have gone about it. They've said they are going to give to Children in Need, which is a good gesture, but now it looks like Hull KR are practically paying for this IMO. Perhaps I am looking at this from a different perspective....

You do talk absolute tosh , if Hull were so charitable why not donate the pound for every passholder as well. You didn't pay a 70% premium you already know how much it costs to get into CP at the beginning of the season. The Derby's are well attended so it would be foolish to offer the B/W a discount , do you have any business sense?

I'll ask the question again, seeing that no one seems able to answer it. How many games, other than the derbies, saw a £17 charge for the South Stand last season? I agree it's good business sense to charge whatever you can get, but you can't then criticise FC for charging a much smaller premium over the normal price and giving it away to charity. Since Rovers have charged £10 for the South Stand for each game so far, it will be interesting to see whether they give any charge over and above the customary £10 to charity this year or whether they just keep it.

You do have the choice, you either pay it or you don't get a ticket. Would you be happier if FC just put a £1 on the price because it was a derby and kept the money for themselves?

The £1 extra we are talking about isn't part of the usual price but something you have just slung on top for 1 game.

If it was "always the price", how many other sets of away supporters were charged it last season? Not sure why this is such a difficult question.

I think you'll find the only ones raising the price are yourselves. It's our choice now whether we attend or not. Let's put it this way, I think you'll be handing over a hefty sum to Children in Need, in the name of 'Hull FC'

I understand that there is no demand at £17 from any other club. I'd just like an answer to the question as to whether any other team's supporters were actually charged £17.
The fact remains that Hull FC are making no money out of putting the price up for one game, but Children in Need are benefitting to the tune of up to £15,000 if the game sells out. Hull FC supporters stood the £7 per ticket increment vs what apparently every other team paid as that's supply and demand for you and Rovers pocketed the difference. FC are applying the same principle and it will be interesting to see whether £21 vs £20 is a big enough price differential to put people off. It's Hull FC's choice to do what they want with that extra money if market forces mean that Rovers fans (and FC non passholders, who in reality will be at least equal in number) are willing to pay that price, and FC are choosing to donate it to charity. Read the website. No one is claiming FC are donating any money themselves, in the same way that a fundraising Red Nose Day event at a school doesn't require the school themselves to part with any cash but just deal with the organisation and admin.
