Reading between the lines of that article the mail seem to know as little as the rest of us.
Conjecture and hearsay with no substance, I'm certain the got that all from on here and as for registered with the RFL I think they meant registered with the RLF FFL....

I'd also take the £200k per year with a pinch of salt.

The way I read the article was that the two year deal was for £200k.

Clinton is thought to have been offered a deal in the region of £200,000 to join the Robins on a two-year contract.

However, the money may be split in a way which will see him earn the vast majority in his second season at the club, during the 2011 campaign

I read it as £200,000 over the 2 years, not per year, i may be wrong.

Maybe, but its not often reported in that sort of context and is open to misinterpretation which lends more weight to this being a story with very little or no substance.

Nothing new in a HDM story lacking clarity I'm afraid.

In an addition to this i find it unbelievable that Rovers have less than £100k left on this years salary cap with the squad as it is.

Paul Baxter, Sports Editor, has said in the HDM comments, in answer to that very question, "We checked that with the RFL yesterday. They said it was fine to have payments differing over two seasons as long as the total salary cap doesn't exceed £1.65m at any stage"

Even when Hudgell has openly said that they're paying over the odds on a number of contracts? It might be unlikely, but not unbelievable IMO.

I would agree , there will be improved contacts for some but the players leaving would have collectively been bigger earners than those currently brought in.

Sheldon hasn't included the 'ins' of Beaumont, Taylor and Mariano. Won't be on huge money individually (nor will Esders or even Aizue though), but between them it'll tot up.
