| Canada triumphed in this Carnival Cup clash with a very impressive performance, which will leave the other sides in North America very relieved that they are not eligible for this years World Cup Qualifying campaign!
Canada dominated for long periods of the game and as well as some very solid defence, showed some fair and planned moves in attack.
The half time score was 18-4 in Canada's favour and it was clear that Jamaica needed to score first in the second half to keep the game as a real contest. They didn't, and Canada extended their lead on a number of occasions.
Jamaica never gave up although battered and bruised, and were rewarded by a try that was a consolation even before further scores from Canada.
An encouragingly sizeable crowd cheered on the Wolverines in the heat and would particularly have enjoyed the performance of Louis Robinson of Harlequins who proved extremely difficult to bring down and showed some great agility and offloads into the bargain, not to mention forgetting he wasn't a hooker and burrowing his way over the line for a try. A star of Super League in the years to come no doubt. But from 1-17 the skill, fitness levels and enthusiasm were all there.
USA home and away are next up in August and September respectively, and with Canada looking to maintain their rapid development, will be looking to prove that they are the best in the America's.
Jamaica will have had a tough lesson but at least they now what level of play to aspire to and they will certainly have something to prove in the upcoming qualifiers against USA and South Africa.

| They will only get stronger too. Cam Grace is playing in Australia, and the new BCRL will pretty much double the number of players available to the national team. Looking for good things to come from Canada.

| To be honest, when the possibility of playing Ireland, Wales or Scotland next year was mooted, I thought the prospect was fanciful. After yesterdays performance, and if they can keep progressing at this pace - it is not beyond the bounds of possibility!
Still early days, so we shouldn't get too carried away - but certainly a promising start!

| Impressive progress coming from Canada, still wish they'd kept the old kit design. Good attendance on though.

| Well if you look at the picture on the front of the canadarugbyleague.com website (the one where the Canadian player is going for the corner) you will see me (in green looking like a giant fruit pastille) with a hat and sunglasses....!
