We break away we kill the game in this country. Nothing good can come of it.
For the moment we have to be pragmatic, play by the rules exactly as they are laid down by the RFL. Then if we are denied again but fulfil the criteria more fully than successful candidates we have grounds for a court case.

The idea of us breaking away and making a go of it is noble but it would never ever work. I don't think it would kill the game, just shoot us in the foot. I'm sceptical as to whether we will be let in, but theres a glimmer of hope in these hard times that they will have to turn to a more solid option as carrying so many sham teams will inevitably be difficult even for the RFL. And they are a sham.
So I agree. Stick to every full stop of the rules, don't make waves and let's all try to ignore the code 13s and crucruslagers of this world. They're all so full of and they'll project a negative image on to us no matter how we behave so why worry?

If you cannot get the clubs to collaberate on trying to increase attendances via away coach travel and shared merchandise suppliers you wont get enough to agree to a breakaway
The RFL work on a ' divide and conquer ' system with the Championship clubs
It works

They also like to impose their will on us no matter how boneheaded the idea. They metaphorically bend over for super leaguers. They'd never make them attend a mid season 9s tournament or limit them to one foreign player.

| We have been discussing this on thw Wigan forum, here are my quotes.
I agree, we should be making rugby league strongest in its strongest areas before we expand really. The expansion would work better.
Why, Celtic have been given the super league club because of location and no other reason where as people at Widnes and and Fax have been working sloid for many years trying to make the clubs fit for super league. People would laugh at a bid for super league fomr Celtic if they were in Yorkshire.
IMO Fax and Widnes would add alot more than Salford and Celtic in terms of crowds, away support, stadia, players through academy and general bringing back some of whats good about rugby league. It would mean loads more derbies and sell-outs. Then after that look to bring other teams in, but if rugby league is not at its best in the areas its already being played, what chance does it have where RU is the favoured game.
As you can see I am on your side. I could go on about it forever, its a outrage IMO.

I think you will find we won it that year.

You should replace them next season.
If it was us (Cas) or Wakey that would happen; as it's not, I fear the continual shafting of your great club will continue.
Hopefully Widnes will take legal action if at all possible.

Not sure whether that will wash with the RFL though buddy. Maybe on the next rounds of licenses then that could be an option but we've played by the rules all along from the inception of SL through to voting to keep London in through to the last round of announcements when even a £500,000 bond couldn't keep the RFL happy. It does the credibility of RFL no good

Doncaster have already gone bust once whilst chasing a Superleague license, they were fortunate enough to get some new investors and now they've gone and done it again, twice in the space of a couple of years.
What will cause the most all round damage both on the field and in the press, Donny going bust again or Celtic going bust?

Theres already 11 heartlands clubs in a Superleague of 14 teams how much stronger do you want them? First it will be "include Fax and Wdines at the expense of any expansion teams" then it will be "still not strong enough in the heartlands, Leigh and Featherstone sare saying they want in, then we can expand". Before you know it we'll have a Superleague of 16 heartlands teams and we wont have enough Sky money to expand the competition further to include non-heartlands clubs. Just how would it make it easier to expand into new areas?
Im sorry but not every heartlands club can be in Superleague, somebody is going to have to be left out. Lewis and co have had to bite the bullet and make some tough choices to prevent the game from going into stagnation and get a better t.v deal.
I personally think Widnes should and will be included come 2012, but IMO it will be at the expense of another heartlands club whose new stadium hasn't been built. Theres going to be wailing and gnashing of teeth from some people but at the end of the day it has to be done.

So what you are saying is that Celtic should get better treatment than other teams? Did the RFL help Doncaster out the first time either probably not. The whole thing is corrupt and the fact that you can even try to justify it is unbelievable, go and post that on the Doncaster forum and see how far you get.

| Unsurprisingly there doesn't seem to be the same outcry to Celtic's money worries as there was about ours. When we went into admin it was viewed as some sort of heinous crime by many keyboard warriors,on a par with murder and rape. Those same people now have sympathy for a club in financial strife.
Established club with money problems=unacceptable
New club with money problems=acceptable.
Double standards or what?
As Starbug says elsewhere,it would be a good idea for the SL clubs to accept a reduced Sky payment next year in order to help out Celtic. They are sure to agree, for the greater good.

| I think people are missing the point - it's not the RFL pulling the strings - it's SKY. If CC are in the do you think it will be the RFL bailing them out? No chance - they're not that wealthy. SKY pull the strings FULL STOP - they decide who is coming in.
As for our game dying I could'nt agree more - SL is just five drives and a kick, big strong lads who run hard but ultimately have little skill.
Remember how you felt when Andy Gregory threw out one of his long looping passes?
Remember the silence in the crowd just before Martin Offiah took a pass that would send him in? How you felt when he crossed the whitewash?
Remember how you felt when Garry Schofield intercepted a loose pass and scored?
I could go on, my point is we don't have any of these moments any more because there are NO good players.
Another thing I have noticed is the coverage in the papers, or rather lack of it. Even the mail, which used to devote large sections, only gives us snippets.
With the muppets we have in charge it's no wonder the games stock is so low.
