What do other Widnes fans think about Mark Smith, maybe he has had his time at Widnes, I didn't go to the game on Saturday but a few people have said that Widnes started to play better when Smith went off.

Also there are rumours going around that we have signed Mark Glesson for next season

Gleeson is one of the players Fax are likely to name as having signed a contract extension in the next couple of weeks. It was always unlikely that he would sign for Widnes due to him not being too pally with your coach.

Let's be honest, either way no one really knows.

I don't think smith has had his time here yet, although i do think he should be rotated off the bench

Smithy needs to stay. Blips in form notwithstanding he has been our best player since we've been in this division and loyal to us as well.

No point replacing Mark Smith unless a better player becomes available. Gleeson is good, but I'm not convinced he is better. Henderson is a very under-rated hooker in my opinion. From the sound of it, the weight was off Smithy's shoulders when he came back on suggesting too much had been expected of him. Rotating with Duffy seems a positive thing for him and the club.

Agreed, I've been saying for years that Smithy should be rotated. I reckon we'll see him back to his best with him being rotated in an improved pack.

Good shout and maybe Widnes can go hunting for a good hooker .

Lets hope if this is done then Mark will not lose heart not having a full game and relising its tactics.

The problem with Mark Smith is (as we've seen with Webster) he's playing in a pack which has struggled to dominate. So no matter how good a player you are you are never going to shine. I think anyone who cannot see this does not understand even the basics of the game.

He still tackles his heart out and never shirks his responsibility and anyone saying he's finished here needs to take a look at how loyal he has been to the club even when SL clubs came knocking. Mark Smith is a huge asset to us, whether he's been on top form this year or not.

I think a partnership between him and Duffers would work well.

Smith cant leave he's part of the furniture now, people forget that he's used to doing 80 minutes every week and this year he has suffered as already mentioned behind a beaten pack. Smithy god and Gleeson to lead the way for the Hookers next year. Duffman/Thacks and Webbo to lead the backs. Leafa/Korkidas/Gannon/Pickersgill to lead the front row.

What no Morrison?! Or is he pencilled in at 2nd row?

doesnt get on with cullen doesnt get on with webster, me thinks someone has stole his golden boy limelight, for example all the team used to walk off and smithy made a point of coming over to the fans on his own.

Even though we (Leigh) beat you in our last game, during your dominant 1st 25 minutes you could see Smith's class. When Gannon went off you capitulated and Alstead's tries made all the difference. OK he's a right little $hit but that just adds to his game.
