| not the place and the location of two recent wars.. but the gap between SL and The Championship.
Is it widening?
It was hard to judge from Saturday night as Wigan are currently top of SL and also taking into account the number of players missing from our squad but it is a genuine question.
In the past when we have come up against teams like this we have had a decent showing for 20 - 30 minutes before being comprehensively beaten.
With the reduction in the salary cap to £300k surely the difference in playing abilities has increased and we are now looking to need to spend an extra £900k - £1.2million to be competitive in the first year.
Having said that.. and as pointed out in other threads a number of players equipped themselves really well and showed that they could probably do a decent job in the top flight.

| All part of the RFL plan to cut SL away from the rest and try to turn us into an NFL type system where they can put teams wherever they want and let the heartland 100 year old clubs who formed the game just do what they want!
I support the Championship as there are some cracking clubs and great people involved but the sooner we get out of it the better as unfortunately you already feel what more can Widnes do (bar win the league) here and in effect we are being held back?

| Barrow beat Cas at Cas so the gap between top Champ and bottom SL might not be that big.

| Scores of 50 or 60 points are regular in SL today, so I would not view a few 60 point defeats from SL clubs on how big the differance is.
The Championship is a much closer league than SL with few teams getting hammered and any team on its day capable of beating anyone.
The big differance is size and fitness due to full time training, part time v full time will always struggle over a season.

| I think a Championship Select squad would be competitive in SL, but would most likely finish bottom.
