Losing Webbo and Coyle so quickly affected us for ages. Tough, gutsy performance in really difficult conditions against a team that played really well and were very enthusiastic.
We struggled to cope with the Dewsbury pack, who absolutely battered us. Just don't know how we won it as Dewsbury looked to be pulling ahead and even the bonus point looked in danger. Whatever anyone says about us as a team or individual players, one thing you can't argue about is the team spirit and never say die attitude.
Just hope we can bring a couple of players in over the next couple of weeks because we really did get out jail today, and not sure how much more the exisiting players can give.
I think if I was a Dewsbury fan I would have been sick as a parrot. Widnes won yesterday due to a poor decision by the referee to award a try to James Webster (who got injured in the process) It seemed fairly obvious to everyone in the ground, including the touch judge on our side that he had been held up but Laughton gave the try.
Not complaining as some decisions go your way others don't but as a fan of a team looking for their first win I think I would have been hopping mad.
I agree about Gerrard who I'd been a little bit critical of in the early part of the match. He stood up and ran the ball in well today. Thacks took to the front in terms of organising and won us the game with his guile. Considering we only had 2 to rotate from on the bench I think the lads really slogged hard in unfavourable conditions.
We need replacements though as we're desperately short of cover in some key areas.
Bostock i think it was and the barrell that was number 17 i think was a monster, we struggled with both all afternoon. We definately need a big guy coming in.
Bring in Sam Moa.
I was impressed with Gerrard yesterday, he does actually have very good hands so we could see a move of Thackeray to scrum half and Gerrard to six. Hulme on the bench to replace Smithy.
