With every squad reducing squad numbers to meet the reduced salary cap, injuries could end up deciding the fate of a lot of clubs this season. We can only seem to field 1 fit half back at any time and only have 1 full back in the squad. With this league being as competitive as it is and Toulouse being exempt from relegation it makes it an even bigger concern.

Haggerty, Pickergill and Allen are real concerns, (thought Allen was class in the short spell he was with us), not sure what the policy is for salary cap regarding players out for the season if they are on contract payments, would be a bit unfair to count those players under the cap and thus prevent replacements.

I've eluded to that in other postings Off... if a player is medically ruled out for the season you should be able to deregister them off the cap and bring someone else in! At least of their are two.. Haggs & Picks... could be like an 'emergency cap dispensation' or something, though unfortunately could be manipulated!

Problem we have is we have put the kids in the first team squad already so now these lads are the first teamers, leaving us dropping right down to the under 18's! For a winger or half back not too bad, but it's too big a step for a forward!

Agreed J20. Not only that but clubs have a responsibility to look after these young players and not put them into a situation for which they are not ready, a situation which could arise if clubs cannot sign replacements due to the salary cap.

However without a development programme to call on we are in an even more precarious situation



Saying that a couple of your youngsters have looked pretty good when I have seen them play, particularly Grady. I hope we get something in place soon to give us a chance at signing some of the local youngster we keep losing out on to SL clubs and provide cover for the first team.

you can deregister a player from the cap, the issue is once you do it, you cannot register them again till the next season (it stops teams deregistering players not picked one week to save cap space) therefore a team must be 100% sure that the player would not be back before making the decision
