| Security aside, it actually sounds like a good idea and one that will save both clubs some money.

| Security? Cyprus has a massive British military presence.
There's a few local rugby clubs and a lot of Brits over there which should guarantee a decent crowd. Good weather in Jan and you can go skiing up the mountains if people fancy a get away.

| So much for the merger rumours!
I guess a major stumbling block would be if either club had already made arrangements for a training camp, which I would imagine is more than likely.

Aye, until they decide to have a game of tag rugby on last day which turns nasty and results in multiple long term injuries!

| Can I ask what does an overseas/warmer climate training camp add compared to say one held in the UK (away from Hull), bearing in mind the usual wintery conditions for the friendlies and first few matches of the season?

The guarantee of two outdoor training sessions per day.
Fewer distractions.
Team bonding.

Hmmmm, not seeing how that cannot be achieved in the UK, in what respect is going abroad less distracting than a remote place in the UK, in't it about instilling self control?. Exactly how does being away from the UK allow you to bond more than any other place. Doesn't team bonding revolve around the activities and how people interact not the environ specifically? As for outdoor training, I've trained in sub zero temps in early January from 7pm til 9pm with snow on the ground so the chances of the weather being too inclement is frankly rubbish. AP talks about money being an issue but yet again we are wasting money on a jolly up for the team when there are ample places to do the same thing over here

Here's a theory that'll get you foaming at the mouth: Maybe it's being funded by Westerman's transfer fee? Have a run with that one Bumpy, let all those negative emotions out.

Why go somewhere to a remote place in the UK (risking poor weather) when the national tourism board of a warm country are offering to put you up?
I am thinking that you were not a professional sportsman in the past and hence you had no choice about your training activities.
I do not think it would be anything like a jolly for the majority of the time. They would be expected to train the house down twice a day. I'd expect them to be left off their leash a little on their last night, no different to the UK in that respect.
Its not wasting money if there are benefits to be had. I'd imagine the Cypriot hotels and camps would be more reasonably priced in their low season then some places in the UK. As flights are being covered by the tourism board. I see no negatives.

Its pretty simple and not that difficult to grasp the concept of going to away to a warm climate for a weeks training camp, yes we know it is still possible to do outdoor training in this country.
The facts are that the weather here in the UK during winter month is unpredictable and can not guarantee a sufficient spell of weather good enough to maximise specific aspects of training & training drills. By going away to a country that good weather is guaranteed the Coaching staff can ensure the players are able to get the full benefit of the planned sessions without having to cut them short or postpone them due to heavy rain/snow/frost etc. It also reduces the possibility of injuries due to various factors.
Also warm sunny weather is proven to also improve peoples mood which although a small benefit again is another positive which helps.
Its not being away from the UK that helps bonding it is simply being away that helps as you are all together 24/7 for a period of time.
As for the cost aspect it is more often cheaper to go abroad than stay here in the UK even taking the cost of travel into it.
Facts are it is an important aspect of pre season but don't let that get in your way of a good argument or bad one in your case about it as you only seem to want to slate the club no matter what.

Maybe we're not paying a massive amount as it's been offered by the country's tourist board at a knock down rate, and with the sub, travel and accommodation it's still cheaper than the UK?
I was on a week long training course many years ago and both trainers told me (independently) that it would be cheaper to run it in Benidorm (even with flights etc.) than in the UK because the travel and accommodation costs in the UK were so high

I asked a simple question, backed up my response with hard facts/plausible reasons as to why we don't need to go to a place that aside from being warmer offers nothing more than being in the UK yet could be costing the club a shed load more than staying at home. Based on the financial problems we are experiencing having a jolly abraod isn't something I would have expected of a club in crisis especially when that jolly has no credible reason or advantage over other options for happening.
Yet you say I'll be foaming at the mouth over some ludicrous statement you've concocted, add that on top of the fact you're stalking me on the forum, constantly making ascertions as to my mental health and my status at home, it's pretty clear you're the one with negative emotional problems, you really need to get some help, as I've offered, I'll happily forward on some details for you.

And have you read the responses you've had in reply? Relating the pre-season of a SL club to your own amateur club (I presume) training in the Winter isn't exactly plausible
People have rightly pointed out that it may be more expensive to have a UK based camp, due to the funding being received and the costs over here.
Plus you get a lot more out of training in decent weather.
Think about it - If it was as costly as you're making out or not advantageous to the team - why on Earth would they or other clubs do it?

Very odd Bumpy. I asserted that due to you having an axe to grind with every aspect of the club, that you were somewhat unfulfilled in your personal life and that you get a kick out of venting your negativity to online strangers. I didn't mention your mental health, but you just did.

Firstly, although you put some credible points forward regarding the question of the worth of an overseas training camp, you most definitely did not put any hard facts forward.
Also, this is the second time you have referred to this trip as a Jolly. Do you seriously think it would be treated as a holiday?
You still fail to factor in the cost contribution being offered by the Cypriot tourism board, hence reducing the financial impact.
