Now please explain what Maurice's broken calculator has got to do with offering 5K discounted tickets.

Initially it appeared that 5000 discounted tickets were available with the restricition of 1000 per stand.
This would require 5 stands.
The intimiation was that Wigan have previously 'struggled' with the salary cap because they can't add up.

Getting back to the main point...

The 'Big One' has been a great idea in the past by Wigan and proved very successful. I'm glad they chose our game there as the next one.

I'd love to see Hull try this to get a 20,000 non-derby attendance.

Didn't we try it in 2003/04 against Bradford and got about 19K?

We got 19,539 against Bradford in June 2003. I can't remember the details of the deal but I do recall there was a great marketing push.

don't think there were too many discounts for this game, but bradford had good away support at the time and bought around 3.5k for this game

A world away from the 11k we get now. (fall from last year)

It was an impressive attendance given that five of the gates that season were under 10,000.

Even as a one off game, it proved what is possible given the right marketing.

I'm content with us getting 11K this season while we are still in 'transition' and for the marketing to start next season. I woulden't want a new fan or a fan who hasn't been for years to see us throw leads away like we have done in the last few weeks!

Credit to Wigan and their marketing team for this offer, but to be honest my decision to travel to Wigan will be based on how we are playing, not the price of entry. If we play like we have done the last few weeks it will be a very long afternoon.
