| Been really impressed by this kid at right centre since Gleeson's been out. Very talkative and constantly organising that right hand side defence, weighed in with a fair few tries aswell.
Now, if we could get a world class centre then fair enough, but if we can't i'd be willing to give this lad his chance next year. He's got the skills and the footwork and with a good coach could really develop IMO.

He's certainly benefited from an extended run in that position.

| Has improved in the role over an extended period particularly in attack. At times his power and footwork near the line is Gleeson-esque although I don't think he has the handling skills of the top centres yet. If he continues to work at it he will get better and better. This goes for defence too which is his weakest attribute but again has improved. As you say a decent home grown option if nothing genuinely better is available.

| At just 22 a young player getting a chance in the first team as well. Has the physical attributes to stand up to the rigours which is crucial.

Same here mate always thought once he had one position and got a good run of games he would come good, got all the attributes to be a top player and at 22 he's still got plenty of time for improvement as well

| He's a big lad who uses his size and strength well. I sometimes think it's Manu taking the ball in he looks that powerful!
Been impressed. Hopefully he can take the performance levels into the playoff and next season

| JT's stats so far are
2010 played 23 (don't know how may starts/sub appearances) tries 8.
2011 played 21 tries 15
which indicate an excellent rate of improvement for a young player now playing in what is clearly his best position (centre).
While he's not the next Martin Gleeson nor would he merit a starting place with any of the current top 4, he is proving a good signing and can become our regular number 3 IMHO.

But, when you compare him to the stats of the 2 other centres in the city that people are saying should be England's centres, he certainly holds his own. He's made half the errors of Yeaman and Welham and while he's missed as many tackles as Yeaman that's 1/3rd of the amount Welham has missed at 56.

| He could still find himself on the sidelines again if the rumours of us signing a another centre are to be believed . Yeamen wont be dropped and 6 is well covered for next season . He may get a chance at 13.

I've said this all season, always thought of him making his name at centre. Really impressing from what I've seen, I would be more then willing to give him a proper shot at centre next season.

| I've been one of his critics, and I'm still not entirely convinced TBH. I've always maintained that his attack isn't good enough for stand-off and his defence isn't good enough for centre. From what I've seen recently, he certainly has improved, and it is now clear that if he does have any future, centre is where it should be. I still have some question marks over his defensive positional play and decision making though.
Not as good as Whiting as a squad player, and long term I don't think he's first choice standard for a hopefully top 4 club.

That's my opinion too: His skill set isn't good enough for stand off and he needs to be more decisive at centre, both in attack and defence.
I'll be happy to be proven wrong all the same.

| If we get another centre then Whiting can cover all the back line and Turner can go for me.......not fussed on him at all.

I'll seconded that, I too hope he proves me wrong but his speed of thought seems to slow for me everything seems to be in slow motion. He needs to take more responsibility defensively also instead of just pointing to somebody else, he could come good but he's not there at the moment for me and a right centre is something that I hope our club are looking at as a priority.

Completely agree. Would only leave him out if we signed a genuine class centre. He gas improved a lot this season and is young enough to keep improving.

Don't forget that injuries to others meant he was played out of position as with Washbrook who went fromhero to zero with many beacause of that. Turner at centre and Washy at 13 have both looked much better players than when playing in the halves or at 9.

| Tony Martin showed him up a couple of times tother week and the mistake against wigan was criminal but overall I agree he's done ok since cementing a spot. Jury still out though for me.

The Leeds games were the ones that stood out to me, he made Ablett look like a good attacking centre. That's a worry.

Tony Martin at some point will show up most players he is lined up against, he is still a class player, Turner is a model athlete with a great attitude, trains hard, well liked by his peers and on the park is starting to look a good young player indeed given the extended run he has had, that is typical of all our fringe players ... give washy a run and he will gather pace, in and out of the team is no good for anyone
