Big Raps to Dr Steve Prescott today who has received his graduation from the University of Hull. There is no one more deserving of this accolade. I do believe there will be a full interview on BBC Look North programme this Evening.

| I heard of this a while ago. Basically, employees of the University can put forward names and cases of people who they feel would be suitable for an honourary degree - my mum was part of a group that put his name forward!
Well done Steve - and more importantly, well done Mum!!  |

Absolutely, My sister who works in the uni started the ball rolling after Omar sherife got one with the flimsiest connection to Hull you've ever heard. So once again well done to all involved. |

They are meant to honour the individual recieveing them (ieicon_razz.gifrekkie) or for the establishment to suck up to someone who they think might give them some cash (like Nutjob)
as soon as I had checked my Euro Millions ticket and knew it wasn't me this morning, I hoped it was someone else from Hull who would then give the Council a £5m a year covenant so long as the KC remained in public ownership. |

I understand Allam's was awarded in recognition of his active participation (as a study subject), in the fields of anthropological research and English as a 2nd language
But big raps to Steve on an honorary doctorate in recognition of something tangible and worthwhile |
