| Takes alot to admit a stress related illness ( trust me I know ) particularly one linked to work. Good luck Shaun in whatever role you play in RL in the future, you will always be welcome back at Hull.

| Salford worked him out and Shaun had to take the pay out.
Great bloke and someone who dedicated his life to RL deserved better.

| best of luck to shaun, hope he recovers well, stress and depression is something that still has a certain stigma attached to it, it's the british way to just get on with things, non sufferers often think its like being fed up and don't see it as a real illness

| McRae was awful for Salford... We played some horrific RL under him... and for us to say that is was horrific, it must have been bad as we've not had much better than average over the years.
He had the best part of 4 years to build a team... when he took over from Karl Harrison... he said that it wasn't his team and to judge him when he built his own... well he built his own... we judged him... and he failed miserably.
In my opinion... he wasn't great with the fans either and I'd say he got back what he put in. I wish him the best like any normal human being... but as long as he stays away from my club I'll be happy.
The players didn't rate him as he gave more analysis of the game on the TV than he did at his own club. This was mentioned a few times on speaking to players 'off the record'... and yes... players should be bigger than that... but a club like Salford need a coach who can stand up... he couldn't.
Finally... don't be so gullible to what you read in the press.

| never rated him as a coach for us some of the young talent who should have kicked on under him have gone backwards luke adamson a prime example and even jordan turner to some extent, Both very talented players who never kicked on. Then we see him week after week telling us on sky how teams should be playing then we go out playing like a bunch of amatuers and also very very poor relationship with the fans at salford i am glad hes gone

It's unbelievable that people believe all this tripe that they have read in the newspapers. If only you all knew the full story... you'd have a huge amount off egg to wipe off your faces.
As for the 'great coach'... he certainly didn't continue that at Salford.

Who has done it at Salford??!!
FWIW - I loved the rugby we played under McRae and think we would have won the cup in '05 with the team that Kear had available to him. He was also great with the fans, great at fans forums etc so whatever you think of his time at Salford, its not going to tarnish the reputation he has with the Hull fans

i've no idea of the 'full story' - please enlighten me !
if he's not suffering from depression then that's great news ! I wouldn't wish that on anyone.
I have a beach towel to wipe the egg from my face....
he was generally respected at Saints and did the job - he seems a really straight guy the times i've bumped into him so good luck to him
whatever happens,I hope he's back in the game asap in some capacity

Talked to him a couple of times and a really nice bloke, always had time for the fans and was one of the few coaches at Hull who has had his name sung....We played some cracking stuff with McRae but ultimately won sod all with a superb squad.
Looking from the outside in....has Alker(who i believe isnt that popular and Bomber had a falling out with) and Simms(who is a total to$$er imo) got anything to do with it?

| Very brave to speak in public about his illness, I suspect a book about the challenges he faced will be on the shelves very soon. Along with Sky TV pay and a payoff from Salford he hasn't done too bad.
If the illness hadn't come along and Salford ended the season 9th or below, who would have taken him on as head coach?
I'm no mug and neither is Shaun Mcrea. Maybe Salford isn't a nice place to work, I don't know, and maybe he has been ill for a while. He seems fine now though and that's good, hopefully the cheque will help.

Just reading the garbage you've written about the bloke, I'd suggest he had every reason if you're indicative of a Salford fan

| I don't often post on here, but on this occasion I am going to do, having worked along side this guy I can only say the bitterness is Salford's.
He was always professional, had the players respect and was loved by all who came across him, one of his great qualities was not suffering fools, so perhaps we need say no more!
If Salford need to ask any questions just look at the way they have treated other members of staff in the past.
Shaun has had a lot of personal stuff going on for some time, so at some point it was going to affect him too.
Good luck to the guy, he gets all my best wishes, even if only for the 6 month long leaving do we had for him.
