Thought Minns, on this occasion, actually took Levy to task on his gross inaccuracies quite well. First time I've seen Levy squirm. Quite enjoyed it.

I hear what you are saying and I agree, they are both s the probelm is Minns is a very dangerous one as 1000s will find out very soon!

Again I hear what you are saying, but I do not believe the people at the top will face the cull...Jobs for the boys and all that!

Minns is an incompetent idiot and hopefully before long he'll be looking for a job too.

I understand why Minns reacted as he did. My hubby received the email today from the Council, his employer. There won't be 1700 redundancies at the Council as Peter Levy/ BBC kept repeating. Anyone who received the global email will know it is 1389 redundancies with 300 vacancies that will not be filled (still doesn't make it right though) and it wasn't a "confidential document" that the BBC claimed to have seen this morning, every employee of Hull City Council received the same document at the same time.

It's not the first time Minns has thrown his not inconsiderable weight around though.

He's is (unfortunately) an elected representative of Hull but acts like a stroppy child.

So whats the alternative??

Yes, agree he can throw hissy fits at times but imo he had every right to correct Peter Levy/BBC who were giving out the wrong figure. Like I said it still doesn't make it right, but to embelish the true figures just to get a reaction and to make people more angry is wrong. Very similar to what the Radio Humberside do with our local RL teams.

I received the same email and it clearly stated that a press statement had been released with redundancies no more than 1389. Also on the council website it gives a 45 page document indicating where savings will be made. Not happy at all about possible job losses, but there is no alternative.

The people voted and there you go.

I'm no fan of Minns by any stretch of the imagination, but i think he handled himself very well under the circumstances and bearing in mind the very difficult financial situation councils are finding themselves in.

Still wouldn't vote Lib Dem though

I only voted them in the local elections not the general, and only then because they have done some good things for my area and keep us informed. Not next time though, I'm afraid the Lib Dems have burnt their bridges with me and I will be voting Labour in the locals and I feel a lot of people will feel the same.

This country is in such a bad state and possibly beyond repair due to the past/previous government that unfortunately these cuts have to be made to try to correct the money being spent when it wasn't even close to being there. It's highly unfortunate but i just hope they cut the people at the top as much as at the bottom, can't see it tho!!

Nothing to do with Rugby except the country's in a state and the Government are trying to scrape every farthing off us they can. That's why the overseas players won't be coming here soon.

Does the figure include the 700 or so who have applied for voluntary or is it in addition? Those made redundant can console themselves that the money the council save on their salaries will go probably on improving caravan park
