That was one of the most emotional moments I have experienced at a match, wonderfully observed by all there. What a lovely way to be honoured and at just the most appropriate game.

Newton did clap, but not for the full minute like the rest of the players. He spent a period of time doing stretchers whilst the applause was still continuing.

Very disrespectful imo and I doubt very much if it would go as unnoticed if he ever attempted such antics during a minute’s silence.

Please excuse my ignorance, but I only managed to turn the match on as they were half way through the applause, who was it for?

The Hull FC fan who suffered a heart attack at the last home game and the unfortunately died the next day. Sorry, I can't remember his name.

Was a bit of a strange one for me, something not done before for a fan iirc, but i think this was right and the tribute was great and helped build the atmopsphere too

ditto, very emotional, and although I've never met Mr Thornton (RIP), I still felt inside emotion for the fact we have lost an 'old faithful'. I'm sure he was smiling down on us x

i'm not really a fan of minutes applause/ noise. the spontaneous george best one at old trafford was awesome but the rest seem tacky to me. i'd go for a minutes silence everytime.

i get a bit sick of these things though as i think they do far too many at rugby matches, think this one was easily justifiable though given the circumstances of his death.
