Anyone else a bit worried that the only positives at the club are the things that the board control? Ie grade A license, biggest sponsorship, record merchandising and one of only a few (if any) clubs that are making a profit! Only a few recruitment gambles that haven't paid off (the big one being Dykes) and maybe agar are there only faults. And to be fair he is a bright young British coach that just might have graduated too early.

You saw in the few games he played what a difference an out and out 7 could make to the team

TBH would move Horne to full back next season and go after a new 6 and 7 allowing Horne a free role a bit like Webb at leeds

Don't see that happening unfortunately as that's exactly what I would do. But then again if we put Horne at FB were would a certain mr. Hunt play?

The board control everything!!! Sorry but Agar a brilliant british coach??? - wheres the proof? Man Utd dont put Mike Phelan in charge they opt for proven class. Let Agar cut his teeth at a so called smaller club and if he proves his class then you chase him. The board also backed the decision to replace Adam Dykes with a fullback? They replaced Kear - a cup winning coach with unproven NRL reserve team coach. They sanctioned the release of Shaun Briscoe. They sanction the pre-match enertainment and 'dancing girls' - they banter on about us being a big club and reduce us to nothing. What was the last transfer fee that you can remember that this club paid????? - We have a poor board, business orientated with a lack of reality, that on field success breeds off field business success.

Whiting is a good suggestion, he can read games very well, and with Horne coming up in support would be quite a force if we had a top class 7. But Whiting is too slow to be a Stand off IMO.

Whiting is a 13 for me....that's if we ever go back to having a ball playing 13!!!!

Going back to OP - we cannot what the club (directors) have achieved off the field, yes there has been some gaffs (major ones) but by and large things have gone well and we are in a better position than we were nine/ ten years ago. With reference to them running it like a business...isn't that what we are?

However........it's clear to see that we are lacking in many areas on the pitch and ultimately this is where the directos, management and players should be judged.

Just on a slightly seperate point what has paying a transfer fee got to do with the ambition of the club? Most RL teams no longer pay fees and for me that approach is just wasting money.

correct about Whiting but a ball playing 7 would be better, imo the days of the loose man being played like this are over.

iirc both Long and Briers were transfer fees and look what loyal one club careers since their early transfers they have both had,
you wouldn't be able to get teenagers of this quality especially halves off another club for nothing and sometimes a cash incentive is needed to prise them away,
a good young British scrum half is well worth their weight in gold and won't have to be replaced every 2, 3 or 4 years like an import does.

I agree we should have a good young British scrum half in our system, we are hell bent in this country to produce hookers, perfect axample is Danny Houghton, he signed from East Hull/Embassy as the best 7 at his age with most impressive player at England youth camp IIRC, and we turn him into a hooker.

His parents didn't want him moving away from home at a young age, or else he would already be ours. I don't think it's an option tbh. What he's worth to salford is probably a lot more than we would be willing to pay.

Tommy Lee was a 6 or 7 in his west hull days as well

Hull FC don`t produce or sign top class No7`s anymore.
They have a fear of it . The position like our Coaching position is becoming the poison challace of British RL.

everything that is positive about this club is hanging by a thread, the crowds, the merchandise sales, the corporate income...as very few are going to sit and watch a 3rd season in a row of this drivel.

even the pre-match entertainment is cheap and lazy, personally its not something I attend a game for, but even this area shows just how cheap and uninspiring this club is.
