Signed:
Crocker 3 years(albeit his first week in) Marquee signing but not really Agar's responsibility
Lauaki 3 years Good signing if he gets here
Calderwood 2 years Good signing. I'm already on second helpings of humble pie
=redThorman 1 year Poor signing
Maloney 1 year Good signing
Moa 1 year Don't know, but cheap
Reardon 6 months PR disaster, desperation signing, too early to tell
Retained
Briscoe 5 years Good signing - fans would have been in uproar if we'd not retained him
(Carvell 3 years
![Twisted Evil icon_twisted.gif](//www.rlfans.com/images/smilies//icon_twisted.gif)
) Don't get me started
R Horne 3 years - see Briscoe
Washbrook 3 years - see Briscoe
Houghton 2 years - see Briscoe
=redKing 2 years - poor injury record
Radford 2 years - started this season well but wouldn't have extended his deal
G Horne 1 year - OK as utility cover
Thackray 1 year - good signing if played properly
Released
Dykes - injured - right decision
Sing - retired
Carvell
Dale - right decision
Webster - right decision
Wheeldon - right decision - although long-term would have been better to retain over King
The only ones I'd have done differently are in red, i.e. not signed King, or given Radford a further extension, or signed Thorman.
IMO the Carvell feck-up and the late call to get rid of Dykes have hampered our recruitment big time, but can anyone seriously argue with the majority of decisions there? If we'd let Houghton, Briscoe or Washy go, for example, there would have been even more criticism than there already is.
Looking forward, as it stands I'd go for:
Burnett - 3 years
Lee - 2 years
Whiting - see how he goes after injury, but at least 1 year
Maloney - 2 years, although a bit early to tell
Thackray - 1 year
Release:
Tony - major injury problems
Cusack - 33 next year, although wouldn't be disappointed if we gave him a 1 year deal
Thorman
G Horne
Moa? not sure
