Exactly. We have to win things before we will tie down a lot of talent on long-term deals. Very rarely do players sign long term for poorer teams.

As a city Leeds is bigger, more vibrant, interesting and cosmo than Hull with vast amounts of satellite towns around and on the doorstep of the Dales... no one will question that.

indeed, and lets be honest, once an overseas player has come and settled then it hardly matters wether you are playing in Salford, St Helens, Huddersfield, Castleford or Hull, it's less than 2 hours from the furthest two points, and as much as there are differences between L**ds and the other towns, there's f'k all to chose between Wigan, Warrington, Bradford and Hull.

Same job, same expectations on more money, most people would go. (other than [isome[/i people from Hull, who seem unprepared to venture out of a HU post code for work)

The differences between Hull and Wigan/Warrington/Widnes/St Helens/Wigan/etc are that they are on the doorstep of a huge metropolitan city. Hull is the best place to go in a 60 mile radius.

I'll give you York as better (not for everything though). Didn't realise how far away it was. So I'll change the radius to 38 miles. Basically you're looking 45 minutes driving before you get somewhere of note. Beverley isn't one if them.

I was going to question Beverley too. Nice place to live (some areas) but there are no cinema's, theatre's, no real shopping attractions, the nightlife is full of squaddies etc.

anyway, as has been said, it's about success and money, not being able to go to Primark and then Nando's.

Hull has a some very decent shopping attractions when compared to Beverley which basically has a High Street.

Hull also has a lot more to than Beverley regarding Nightlife...various cinemas, a lot more restaurants in various areas to choose from, ice-arena, various bowling alleys, various nightclubs,several drinking areas, City Centre-Cottingham-Hessle- Princess Avenue- Newland Avenue.

The Deep, several museums, 2 SL rugby clubs, a championship football club, numerous sports centres offering a variety of sports, a university.
A lot more choice in the areas and houses.

Surely this is all about personal choice. We all like different things and different places. This thread has turned into yet another willy measuring contest.

Nah, it's the usual story where you come out with some bull, ('Beverley is better than Hull for everything', for example) people pull you up on it and then you try and deflect from your original point (see the quote above).

Nobody has blindly defended Hull, or even claimed it's better than other cities, they're pulling you up on the Beverley comment - plonker.

I said almost, I'd rather shop and eat in Beverley than Hull, maybe you should try it?
