What surprises me most is people not thinking we need to make a signing at prop. IMO we definitely do. Even if Dowes stays, we have 2 good props and 2 ok next year, by no means a bad set of props but not one of the strongest either IMO. But what is most worrying about our prop situation is that if Dowes gets a 1-year extension, all 4 are out of contract next year, with 3 of them over 30 by then (I'd expect at least Radford to be considering retirement) and the other looking pretty likely to want a crack at the NRL. If we don't bring in at least 1 prop for next year, we are potentially leaving ourselves a ridiculously challenging recruitment drive next year, and one that I think we would really struggle to pull off, which then writes off yet another season.

And if anyone thinks the answer might lie in our youngsters, we can't expect them to go from not getting a game in 2011 to playing every week in 2013. There's no way we can build a pack capable of competing that way in such a short space of time.

As I mentioned, how about going into 2013 with nobody, or a completely new front row?

Good point about all the props being out of contract at the same time, personally I think we will bring in a prop during the off season.

I think/hope we'll bring one in too. Ideally we'll get someone mid-20's this close season, O'Meley will sign an extension for a year, and Tickle will possibly move up by 2013. That would then leave us maybe only needing to bring in 1 more by then, whilst still open to the possibility of bringing through any youngsters who are pushing for places.

Prop and a centre are needed.Can't see Gleeson playing again,so that will free up a fair bit of cap space.

That would be the minimum requirement for me, anything else would depend on how many and which players we release

The nightmare scenario for us is Wigan winning the CC and Saints winning the SL GF, then we will have Wigan and Saints fans crowing at us on here about our bubble having burst and the Widnes fans will have made their way on by then laughing at our continued mediocrity and telling tales of when they beat Canberra in 1989.

So Bridge or Myler aren't good enough(2 players we have been linked with in recent times)?
