| When you consider Moa was a 'Project' and Lauaki was touted as a big signing
Quote “Hame will make a real impact and he has the ability to produce great off loads'"
Sam
Quote A big powerful prop the 22-year-old former Cronulla Shark is seen by Hull as a project and someone they hope they can launch into the engage Super League.'"
it is easy to say Sam has had the bigger impact since arriving at the club. Lauaki may have been hindered by having to play 2nd row when he was used to playing prop although there really should not be too much difficulty making such a minor switch.
Hopefully this season he will be used at prop (which when you consider the signings is highly probable) and will show us what he is definitely capable of doing.

Lauaki has always been a Second Row, hasn't he? He certainly played there predominantly at NZ Warriors.

| Actually looking into it more, it seems you are correct Digby and I bow to your knowledge. I know he played a few games at prop for Warriors at least and my brain took that and presumed he was a prop.

| Lauaki has been a massive let down for me. To say he was once touted as the best impact player in the NRL, he has never shown that form here. Really cant see why some fans love him. For me he does more thing wrong then he does good. The odd hand off here and there is not enough for me. Look at the way Moa hammers teams when he is on. IMO he needs to either up his work rate, or have more of an explosive impact because last season he did neither consistently. Just my opinion of course.

Higham is 3rd choice hooker at Warrington. Could be an option on loan once the season has started as we have no real cover for Houghton.

| Wakefield need cash big time!!!! Could Obst do a job? Would not be my first choice, but he is an experienced super league player and we need cover.

| It's basically been confirmed on the website that it's gonna be Washbrook playing Hooker, in the same way that they told us that Westerman will cover 6.

Watching games with mine own 2 eyes and not listening to the whingey whiney moaners on here! With good hands which was shown on numerous occasions, good feet and leg speed enabling one of the best tackle bust stats amongst any forwards in the league! Set up directly or set the move that lead to a try plenty of times. You can see all these things numerous times on dvd or highlights from the season past! But most would rather focus on the negative! Eg pens he conceded-although stand up against many so called top forwards! If used well a tremendous asset but last year was mostly wasted,ie pedestrian ball that by time he got it was swarmed by several defenders! Cos most on here are so negative its untrue and cant see the good or potential an most players! If ever you needed proof of the negative mind set of most on here its on the board right now! "Best overseas 17" - 27 posts! bit to glass half full that!!!! "Worst overseas 17" - a glass half empty topic - 71 last time i looked! . So for me its cos ive used my eyes and rugby knoweledge and positive outlook to make my assumption! Not cos im a miserable **** who isnt happy unless whinging!! (Not an outright dig at you, respect others right to their opinions but sometimes pop on here and cant belive some of the things i read!,seen 17year olds slagged, other players ripped apart!)

So would I, but if their is no one else out there surely he is better then no one. The key is playing players in there natural positions. Keep Tansey at FB, Whiting centre and Washy in the back row. We have Turner and Nicko who can play 6, so all we need is cover for 7 and 9. Hence why Obst would be better then no one if it comes to that of course. If we do sign Sammut we still have no genuine cover at 9, which is such a specialist position. People say Washy is not a half back. Then say play him at 9 (another important pivot).

The speed he receives the ball at is down to him. Ogre and Moa dont seem to have a problem hitting the ball at pace. And its not all negative, its just construstive criticism. I just expect more thats all. When you consider the standard that Fitz, Ogre, Tickle, Manu, Whiting produce each week, then you will see where im coming from. Imo he has the attributes to be a really good player, but he needs to improve his defence, workrate and produce displays like Saints away on a more consistant basis.

If it was a choice between Obst or no one for a year, would you still take him? Given that our squad is looking pretty thin at the moment.

but they play more 1st man, even tickle with that damn inside ball! Manu makes best of bad situation a lot of the time. Hames stats stack up against manu's,misses less tackles you may be suprised to learn! I was! He could do better in some areas but personally i think he'll go well this year, got the tools. Needs to be given the means to show em!
