What annoys me is the way they claim these cuts simply "must" be made - if they'd not wasted so much damn money on stupid s**t in the past (the Cog, the big screen, etc), things wouldn't be quite as bad.

Before the banking crisis hit, Labour were spending roughly the same as the previous Tory government.

The gold thing has been dismissed as largely irrelevant by economists.

I'm not basing any of my points on anything that the new government have done/said... Just my own opinions/observations!!

You're seriously over exaggerating this whole benefit cheats argument.
Yes, its a problem, but it always has been and always will be.
What you seem to be advocating is throwing the most vulnerable in society on the street just so there's no system to cheat.
I have a daughter that has Cerebral Palsy, without the system that exists, god knows what me and my partner would of done.

People will always cheat. The amount lost through the benefits system is peanuts compared to the amount lost through tax avoidance and evasion. Somehow that never seems to generate as much bile.

You forgot to tell us what your alternative to having a welfare system is. I'd be interested to know if you have one that doesn't involve people dying.

What about IB claimants? Until I had to "go on the sick" as so many people like to call it, I had a full time job, worked a part-time job on a Saturday morning then worked on the turnstiles at the Boulevard on a Sunday. I now don't work because of my condition, I'm not lazy, I would love to be fit enough to be able to do those jobs again, but it will never happen, but in your eyes I shouldn't get anything even though I didn't chose to give up my jobs and paid tax on each of my jobs

No, you're just generalising my comment into one place (i maybe did that myself without explaining properly).

I don't go into this 'Jobseekers' balls: If you don't have a job, you don't get paid. A system should be: X years of work or X amounts of £s of payments to the tax system before you are elible for any kind of benefit.

My exception would be people, in your case, who have disabled children who CANNOT live a full life for themselves. You daughter obviously needs your complete attention and care and you and her should be compensated approriately. This care could and should be much greater perhaps when you get the social parasites off the system, this can only be guaranteed by having it policed properly and scrapping the money sapping side of the system!!

It simply winds me up that i have and will continue to pay tax and N.I and will never see any of it back.

I would also happily (though no doubt i won't be popular on here) scrap the NHS system which loses money hand over fist and go private. If people were forced to pay for private healthcare they wouldn't go to A&E for a stubbed toe or paper cut!!

Particularly when you bear in mind that literally billions of pounds worth of benefits to which people are properly entitled go unclaimed every year, which probably offsets most of what is claimed by those who are not entitled.
