I agree but for some reason I just can't see him doing as well in broken play from fb.
I know it was his first game there in years. But if it's one of his best strengths it shouldn't matter if he at fb. He should still be able to do it regardless of when he last played there. But against Salford I didn't see any signs of him making half a break.

Think the real danger is him joining the attacking line anywhere rather than his kick returns. Its difficult for a defensive line to number up against their opposite men if Horne is then going to join the line mid move. He could give us so many options for additional attacking plays doing that.

| Just out of curiousity would people see Danny McGuire as a good fb?
I see Horne as a poorer version of Danny, McGuire is more creative than Horne and also a better runner of the ball imo. Defensively Hornes better. So excluding defensive capabilites, how would people view him as a fb?

You're talking to the wrong guy here, as I don't rate McGuire particularly highly. I certainly wouldn't say that he's a better runner of the ball than Horne, although he may be faster.
McGuire is probably more creative and has a better long range kicking game. Horne is the better runner IMO as he is stronger and more elusive - McGuire relies on pace alone. Horne is (normally) better defensively.

| McGuire is a one season wonder. He was great that season he first came onto the scene and scored 327 tries, but he's been distinctly average since. Very fortunate to be playing outside of Burrow, IMO.
Horne is better in defence and has much greater upper body strength. He's nearly as quick, and has just as good a step. I certainly wouldn't swap Horne for McGuire.

| Mcguire has a better step and more pace than Horne, Horne's handling skills are better although McGuire does offload more than Horne. He is also a better support player than Horne although Horne is a better defender.
The thing is McGuire would not suit our style of play, he is not really creative, he relies on offloads and second phase possession.

I actually said during his breakthrough season that he looked more like a fullback to me in some ways, mainly because his biggest attributes are/were his pace and support play and the fact that he's more about being put into gaps by others than creating them himself. The main preventative of him being a success there though is his complete lack of defence and strength, which completely outweighs what he would have to offer IMO.
I'm with Kosh in that I consider him to be pretty over-rated, but I do see the similarities between some of his play and that of a fullback.

Would have Tickle in and Manu on bench..........if Ticlke isnt in....who is the Tickle.

I'd go with that I reckon, As long Radders is no where near the team and we stop doing a drop off to Tickle in every set we have.

Never let one rumour get in the way of another!
Personally I think Motu is very good at Full Back and so long as he can recover his fitness is our first choice full back and should stay as such.
