I said last year that Willie Manu would have more of a chance at silverware by staying with us, and people thought I was daft for saying it. I say exactly the same thing with Tom & Leeds.

If Tom doesn't sign on the dotted line for us, which seems likely. Then I will be extremely disappointed the club have not managed to secure his services for whatever reason but I dont have a problem with him signing for anybody else whatsoever, Leeds included!
It's a shame he feels he can not fulfill his career ambitions with us but he has to do what he needs to do to achieve what he wants to achieve. Whether that be play in Australia, win trophies or for purely financial reasons. He will go wherever he goes with my blessing..... (Which I am sure will mean a lot to him )

You are basically saying , unless a player signs for life, they don't care when they are playing.
That's a fairly narrow minded view.
It seemed clear that Tom wanted to give the NRL a shot. He was due to sign for Crunulla until their drugs issues were made public. This is after Hulls initial offer. Hull, knowing of the players desire to play in Aus, start planning around this and allocate cap money else where.
It is more than possible that when Tom got nervous about the drugs issue, be backs out of a move to Crunulla. He is now in a position where he has no offers on the table. Hull may well have offered him something but it will not have been as big as their initial offer. Tom is then effectively having to move.
The strange thing is, other clubs will be aware of this and I would reckon, unless he goes to Salford, he will not be improving his salary by a great deal.
Briscoe has not lead the club on, has not held the club to ransom, hasn't broken his contract and certainly doesn't deserve to be treated badly.
Did you call Manu, Moa etc for not staying?
It's their job, they have a limited earnings time doing this job

| It's a shame (especially as we look to be in better shape than we have for years) and he'll be a big loss but if he'd rather be somewhere else then ta-rah and thanks.
We can cope without him and it'll free up a chunk of salary cap for more important positions in the squad.

| Tom Briscoe has given me terrific memories of some very special tries and, indeed, tackles for Hull FC . I would love him to stay but, if he now moves on, then he goes with my thanks.
If he now signs for one of our SL rivals and plays against us then I suggest the way to deal with it is put Whiting in the centre opposite him and send high kicks his way all the game.

| He was obviously set on going to Oz, during which time we've re-allocated his money so his options will be limited. I think the length of deal he signs elsewhere will be interesting. A 3+ year deal will show he's unlikely to ever go to Oz

| Right, Lets get rid of this negativity.
At the moment, no one on here actually knows where Tom will be next season.
FWIW, if he does leave, he will leave having left some great memories. Here are a few,
1. 80 meter try against rovers in his debut season,2008
2. Try saving tackle on Fox in the last play of the 2010 derby
3. Try against Leeds in the last regular season game after radders had been sent off.
4. The two tries scored away at Cas at the back end of the 2011 season
5. Try against Leeds 2012, burst the tackle and outpaces 3 would be tacklers.
Would be nice if No. 6 was scoring in the CC final..........

| And so the worries that he would sign for leeds, that I expressed at the begining of this thread come to fruition
I reckon the fact he has had yeaman on the inside of him will be one of the main reasons that he opted to leave hull, if yeaman had give him some ball the past 3 years then he probably would have signed his new deal a long time ago...

| He'll be a big miss, top quality player and debatable service IMO.
However, sounds like a big deal was put to him by us early and he was entertaining interest from Australia so stalled, with his agent saying we'd get an answer by the start of the NRL season. If that deadline passed, and we're confident in Crookes, the club's has to look at the bigger picture and move on, especially with the change in anti-tampering date.
There have been many superlative Briscoe efforts over the years, I remember the team bus going via his school to collect him for his debut at Warrington, and I'm hugely disappointed he sees his future elsewhere. But Leeds have the t-shirt - 5 of them - in silverware delivery - and thoughts they are on the slide are only thoughts right now, they won't rest on their laurels. I thank Tom for his service and wish him well. Not against us,obviously.

| I like how posters on here lambast the view regarding the service Tom has had from Yeaman but can't formulate why their view is right & the poster is so wrong? Do you not think that things like that influence people more than money does? It's actually greater than you think.
Working conditions are voted higher than pay as the number one thing workers in the UK want to improve. Given Yeaman was offered another year on his contract & it's unlikely Hull will get rid of him (yeaman) at the end of 2014 either I can see that being a factor to be quite honest.
Why when you are one of the best wingers in SL would you want to continue to have the type of service that Yeaman provides week in week out for another couple of years? It can certainly put you down the pecking order when it comes to international honours.
Let's face it, if Tom had been at Leeds, Wigan, Warrington, even Hudds or Cats the last 2 or 3 years he'd have had a shed load more tries & be nailed on as the England winger & promoted himself far more for a big move to NRL.
Clearly this isn't all down to Yeaman & it is nothing personal but how Yeaman plays can certainly have a bearing if you look at all the pros and cons of staying or moving.

| Yeaman's lack of service has been blown out of all proportion over the yrs. Been some stand out moments were he has been undeniably greedy but his strike rate an strike threat has sucked defenders which has freed Briscoe on a number of occasions, a far bigger factor on Briscoe s try return is lack of half backs providing clean crisp service, and a game plan that involved nothing more than giving it to Manu n seeing what he could do. Briscoe n yeamo get on like a house on fire, pretty sure it's nothing to do with yeaman.
People saying we won't miss him or easily replaced are not being realistic.
X factor players are X factor players, position is irrelevant.
Depending on crookes court case we may still be in the market for a winger.
Should we be anyway?
God forbid lineham took a big injury anytime our wings wouldn't look so good. We lose one now we replace with Jason crookes,as good as any 3rd choice wing in the league!
