Good test, Bradford have about 7/8 first teams with some experienced players, but alot of youth too

According to the BoE calculator £1.6m in 2004 would be worth around £2.75m today so although the cap has not risen by inflation it's nowhere near as far off as you say, plus as Dave said there are other factors now such as the opportunity to have three marquee players.

Would rather play 2 super league teams in friendlys instead of 2 championship teams

As think likes of Staveley, laidlow, Severs need to be tested against fulltime super league opposition and a friendly is a good time to test it

Would get rid of the marquee and just up the cap in general

Just get situations like daft money on one player instead of squad ( sonny bill ) earning more money than full squad on

You really are Mr Negativity aren't you! Here we have a coach who is committed to developing young FC players who has increased our usual pre-season friendlies from two to three. That, so he can offer a load of kids who have trained their socks off in the closed season and who would never play a team with so much experience in the reserves league, the chance to play together against a team who will probably be in the IMG mix sooner rather than later. For me, win or lose they will learn a lot and whatever happens it will be good to watch them battling to prove a point to that coach.

Watching the City v Norwich game and I have to say the pitch at the MKM is looking in an absolute shocking state. Very threadbare and not just in the football penalty areas.

I think there maybe some behind the scenes agreements about clubs we play in friendlies. So we have Bradford, Doncaster and then Wigan- that’s an upward trajectory for fringe first teamers in the class of the opposition. It makes sense to me and l would think TS knows what he’s doing after the 1 or 2 pre seasons he’s done in his career

Some are blaming the rugby, saying that the pitch cannot recover in the summer like other clubs pitches. They've obviously failed to realise that it gets relaid virtually every May/June

Absolutely always football fault for the pitch enforcement start of football season the pitch is spot on, start of rugby season the pitch is an embarrassment
