The answer imo is no.

Tommy Lee is going to Salford.

We will have injuries in the halves at some point in the season I've no doubt of that and Berrigan will also pick up the odd injury here and there. Lee could well come in very handy in those situations. All of which is irrelevant as he is leaving anyway.

Not OTT regards to 2nd paragraph imo, Lee has given far better distribution from the PTB consistently this season than Berro who has looked slow and laboured imo.

You're right, we're not. Berrigan should be doing more, just like everyone else. No more so, no less. But he does have the addition of being hampered by a monumentally poor PTB and next to no options to enable him to do much more than he already is.

And IMO the distribution from the PTB has been pretty even whoever's done it, they've all had good games and bad games, but largely average. Again, down to our PTB being poor, preventing our hookers from being in a good position to distribute particularly effectively. But in contrast to Lee, Berrigan also poses a threat when he takes on the line and has shown a decent kicking game more often.

Without wanting to get into a long winded argument i'd be more inclined to take Lee over Houghton. Much as i rate Danny i think Tom has a better all round skill set, though if Berrigan is going to be starting hooker Houghton will be better off the bench than would Tom.

Its a tough call purely on ability, but being as Tom is ooc i suspect it will be him who misses out on a renewal.

While I think Lee probably is better than Houghton at the moment, the thing is he's been in and around the first team for a few years now and has never lived up to his potential (although he has got better since they stopped trying to play him at half-back). Houghton, on the other hand, still has more time in hand to realise his potential, and therefore it's him that's deserving of the new contract IMO.

IMO he's a better passer of the ball, a slightly better tackler and a better kicker out of dummy half. Houghton's main attribute is his speed around the ruck and though his passing off the floor is improving its still not quite there.

Both players though are still young and therefore still have improvement in them, and are valuable commodities being British so ideally i'd keep them both. But as i've said if one has to go its more likely to be Tom due his contract status.

The kicking bit i'd certainly disagree with. When he first broke into the team Houghton put in some good kicks and regularly found touch in the oppositions 20. He doesn't seem to have done it as much this season but that's is probably due to lack of game time.

Lee is probably stronger in the tackle but to me Houghton is a better tackler round the ankles.

Little to choose with in the passing department and Houghton is undoubtedly quicker when running from dummy half.

If people are serious about berro being one players in the clearout then they are very bad judge of player . Quality player who has being in a very average team who will even better with better players round him

No humble pie to eat, ive not said he is a rubbish player. Ive said he hasnt played well for us. I'll stick to that. If i see him playing well i'll say that too. Different opinions mate, thats what lifes all about.
