It may have been an improvement on the last two years - it couldn't really have been much worse - but 7th means it has ultimately been a disappointing season.

Two derby wins and the double over Saints were great but some shocking performances and defeats by Salford, Crusaders, Wakefield and Harlequins cost us big time.

I'm still far from convinced by Richard Agar and I believe we as a big club should be aiming higher.

I actually predicted we'd finish in 7th place, so not too disappointed overall.

One thing that clearly hasn't been good enough though is our attack. We need to learn how to score points.

The point was that we couldn't see Agar's game plan to the full tonight, so do not call him a bad coach because of an injury which messed up his game plan!

Has improved our position but thats about it.....he is too rigid in his rotation and cant seem to get the best out of players........cant see him taking us to the next level.

What worries me is half-backs longy now 34 and horney looks knackered . When they get injured which will happen a lot again I'm guessing who goes in washy who is a never a half back in a million years but not having a go at washy still think he could do a good job at 2nd row

You haven't been good in attack since 2004 and sean mcrae's last season.

That hull team of 2004 is the best i can remember in the modern era, because of the way you played. Since then it's been scrappy.

You made the grand finl in 06 but there was some real dour play in there on the way and then you tailed off after 2006.

You have to judeg this season in context thbough, and it's been a huge improvement on the last 2 seasons.

We should be comparing ourselves to are those spending the same amount on their squads. Wigan, Saints, Warrington, Leeds.

We are light years behind in terms of attack.

Agar is not a top coach, never has been a top coach and never will be a top coach.

Ok ill rephrase it not knackered but 'busted' as the aussies put it, e.g stiil got it in him but I imagine everyone expected he would miss parts of the season and although yes they are new injuries can anyone tell me they thought he would go the full season without missing at least half a dozen league games?
My point is that yes getting Long was a good idea but giving him 2 years was a mistake.
1 year and a contracted coaching job afterwards may have been the way to go with him.

What you need to do is recruit a ball playing loose forward who can slot in at halfback when you suffer injuries.

Leeds have always been able to manage without either burrow or mcguire because sinfield can slot in at halfback.

Players like senior are freaks. Very few can play the top level for that long before they break down with injuries and their form goes down.

washbrook strikes me as more of a dynamic running forward, certainly wouldn't strike me as the 'halfback loose forward' type of player.

If he is, then he isn't good neough to do it when you have injuries.

This is a thread that was predictable on the back of a defeat, had we had won it would have been a thread on how Agar tactically out classed Morgan.

We have slightly improved on previous years so its hard to really critisize when Agar has delivered in that aspect. Playing wise in terms of entertainment they is alot of improving to do, how many inside balls do we want to do before we realise its not going to work ?

The players didn't get up for tonight and Rovers players came out like a team possesed, in a derby they is only one type of attitude which will win.
