A lot of the hype/excitement about Horne at FB stems from his performances there when he first broke into the side. It's probably not justifiable to just assume that he'll reproduce or even exceed that form now. On the other hand, it's also not justifiable to dismiss him out of hand based on one game there in a struggling side.

He does have all the required characteristics to play there, and play there well. I guess we'll see how things progress.

In what way is he average? He's safe in defence and he can attack just as effectively from FB as he can from SO.

His performance on Saturday was average, he has the potential in that position to be much better.

I think he was being expected to do everything on Saturday, and I don't think he did too bad a job. He was far safer than Hall has ever looked there, and that's a great start.

As the side improves, and as he settles into the position, I agree that he has the potential to get better. But he did everything you could have expected from him against Salford, in my opinion.

I agree he will be defensivley sound but in attack I just can't see him returning the ball and gaining 40-50 metres from a break running round broken defence. I hope to god he proves me wrong and if Tony goes home I would be willing to give Horne a chance at fb as I would like to see a more creative 6 AND 7 than we currently have.

Broken field running is one of Horne's strengths, and he certainly has the pace and step.

How often do you see a full back gain 50 metres from a kick return? Not very, I'd suggest. If the gap is there, he will exploit it from a kick return, but his real strength will be coming into the line to expose any gaps created by our new halfbacks!
