| Quote ="Mrs Barista"How was this not giving our players gametime?
The COH academy played midweek and the first team play on Thursday. Today gave Naughton, Green, Hadley, Lancaster, Dean, Matongo, Turgut, Downs, Litten, Fash, Osborne gametime. Abdull and Yeaman play on duel registration for Doncaster tomorrow. I'm struggling to see a downside tbh.'"
I am not saying there is a downside to getting game time.
I thought The idea of the Under 23 comp was to have something more competitive than Champ 1 yet it seems Abdul and Yeaman are playing at Doncaster ( not seen anything confirmed by the club only the HDM)
Feka? not mentioned but needs game time
Cant see the point of sending Abdul to Doncaster as he is possibly the first team replacement for Pryce and would get more benefit playing 6 at Wakefield using the first team plays and playing with our players ready to step up to the first team.

Surely the idea for the U23's is to give players a game who aren't needed at donny. How can this comp be more competitive than the semi pro ranks?

You said "I thought the idea was to give our players game time". Apart from Feka, surely under the new set-up that's exactly what's happening, and it means players who under the previous seasons regime were at risk of being in no man's land an opportunity to step up in a format that could be better for keeping players within the club's systems and structures. There has to be some sort of reciprocity with our partner club Doncaster here. They help us with players to supplement a 17, maybe they agree a couple of players they think can help their campaign in Championship 1 on an ad hoc basis, and this could be agreed with Radford in advance for all we know. Maybe Abdul playing at Doncaster for a week is seen as equally valuable to his development as partnering Dean in the 23s. Overall we're running with a bigger squad to help more players have the opportunity of staying with the club and making the first team. We seem to be giving the vast majority a chance to play. It seems quite a positive thing to me.

| Sounds like Abdull is playing well for Doncaster, scored one and set one up with long pass to the winger

| Abdull (2 tries), Yeaman and Feka all in action for Doncaster's win. Bower played for York and Whiting for Leigh.

| Squad for tomorrow v Warrington, 3pm Brantingham Park
Abdull, Clavering, Downs, Fash, Green, Hadley, Lancaster, Lane, Litten, Matongo, Naughton, Osborne, Paleaaesina, Sanderson, Turgut, Tyson-Wilson, Yeaman.
Dean played for 19s today, Abdull and returning HTW in the halves. Decent back up set, that, 12 with SL experience.

| Warrington Starting XIII: Johnson, Thompson, Harris, Wheeler, Ormsby, Ratchford, Patton, Evans, Kenny, Dodds, Wilde, Philbin, Peet.
Quite a few recognisable names in there. Warrington's depth looks impressive this year.

| Two strong sides, Warrington has the edge with players like Ratchford, Wheeler and Dodds.
I've seen hull pay worst SL sides than that.

| Down 22-6 at half time, struggling to get out of our half apparently. Try for Abdull.

| Ended 34-22 to Warrington. Sounded like Ratchford and Patton controlled the game; took us 30 minutes to get a PTB in their half but we ended the game better.

| We did appear fitter at the end and got two good late tries. But although Green had a good game we were generally outmuscled. Great atmosphere around the place though with 500ish there. Good venue and worth a visit next time they play.

Masi was strong but missed a big tackle before their last try, Turgot went OK but Lancaster made several break however he didn't look as fast as I thought he should have been and got caught twice on the break out. Tough to get excited about it but a terrific workout for all the players which I guess was the object of it all.

| I thought the scoreline flattered us even before we scored those consolation tries in the end. Jez Litten was our MOTM by far as he was our only attacking threat but he needs more protection in defence. Hadley got through a ton of work in the middle and showed up well too though.
Yeaman couldn't have made it any obvious he didn't want to be on the pitch though he did nothing all game and was silent in defence instead of been a leader which he should be.

Sounds like he has a bit of attitude with not playing first team and the Donny fans said the same last week about him.
If so Pearson and Radford need a word, really poor attitude that from a player that will have earnt close to a million pounds from the club.
Can't see him getting a SL contract next year, so he needs to get use to playing at a lower level, it's a shame as if his attitude was right he would do a good job in the championship for someone for a couple of years.

It was clear Lancaster & Turgut haven't played as a centre and winger pairing much as their timing was way off which meant a few passes were going behind/in front of Lancaster.
The moving of Turgut to centre from the backrow is a weird decision in my eyes.

Yeah I don't understand that move, he has captained England from the 2nd Row

| Big win for the U23s against Featherstone - 5 tries for Callum Lancaster and a very good performance from HTW apparently. 10-62.
